My cat, BabyGirl is more timid than her sister, Hoshi and I was wondering if there are any techniques to lessen her shyness? BabyGirl also has a problem with me picking her up and I don't know what I can do to where she won't be scared. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You don't say how old your kitties are or how long you have had them. Cats need a bit of time to get used to new people and enviornments. Not all cats like to be picked up just like all people don't like to be hugged by folks they don't know. It takes years of bonding and learning what signals our cats are sending before you can tell what mood they are in.

To lessen fear in a cat, ignore it. Offer treats from across the room, but never approach the kitty. Let the kitty head butt you for scritches, and only then pet the cat. Place a sweaty t shirt under the food bowl so your scent is associated with good things.

Petting and holding a cat is something we need. Some cats could care less about that aspect. Just ignore the kitty while seeing to her creature comforts and she will come around in time.
