OK - here is a weird one for you. My 10+ yr old Lumpy cat has now taken to licking plastic bags - like the ones you get from the grocery store. I use them to line the waste basket in the livingroom and the bathroom. She will do it for hours if I don't stop her, and even then she wants to go right back to this.
Do cats ever get pica - or is she just exhibiting some weird kind of Lumpy behavior?
I know it has me puzzled!

Some plastics company process their plastics with fish oils. I have to lock my plastic bags down tight, because Ripley will not only lick them, she will try and eat them. She has already had one vet scare because of it, so now I keep them away from all the cats. My vet was the one who told me about the fish oil processing and warned me of the danger of further encounters with those bags

Debra I also have a cat who does this. My 4 year old DSH does this all the time. I am so afraid she will get into the bag and not know how to get out.

Wow! That explains why Mishmish loves to bite on some types of nylon bags but not others! Thanks for that bit info!

She may also be attracted to the crinkly sound. We got Gus one of those crinkly cat tunnels and he loves it! Not that it's helped keep him away from plastic bags any
