This may seem strange, but I feel that my cat is depressed. He sits at home alone alot, and I don't have many visitors. I have plenty of windows but it seems that birds don't frequent around the house either. I work at a small office and was thinking of periodically bringing my cat to work with me for the day. Any thoughts?

Since I work from home, mine come to work with me every day. I was going to build a small office to keep them out, but then I thought, why go to the bother? Of course with Prowler jumping at my screen right now, I am wondering if I should have bothered!

I am worried that maybe my cat may be afraid or it may be too much stress on him if I take him to work.

I have brought Dori to work with me a few times. Twice when my apartment was infested with bees and once when they were bringing a new frige. She seemed very anxious all day. I couldn't get her to "calm" down. She wouldn't sleep, she just didn't seem to feel comfortable.

I would never ... too traumatic and stressful. Cats do much better in their own familiar environment.

If I worked in an office environment, I wouldn't think twice about bringing Hans with me. He loves going to the vet, and he loves strangers. I think he would make an excellent office cat, or shop cat. Mer and L.S. hate leaving the house, and they aren't comfortable with new things, so I wouldn't do that to them.

However, I work in a deli.... I could only imagine what they would do... on top of breaking quite a few health code violations.

If you're cat is lonely, what about getting him a companion? It costs more, and it can take a little time for it to work, but the end results will melt your heart. Mer and L.S. groom each other on a daily basis, and the look of pure contentment on their faces lets me know how much they love each other.

I work in a vet's office, and the clinic and I share a 8 month old kitten Milo. The clinic has 3 full time residents, one of which is still young (the other 2 are 16 and 22 years old) so Milo plays with her during the week then comes home to my house for the weekend to keep my 2 youngest busy. Milo is very proud of his large social network. Since I have been taking Milo back and forth since he was about 12 weeks he has no problem with the traveling.

At the kitty's beck and call
Maybe a companion for your cat would be the best idea. If kitty would like to watch the birds you could put some feeders out. Here you can get little ones that stick to the windows with suckers. You wouldn't believe how quickly birds can find a seed when it's available.

As for mine - they are with me when I work from home - but not when I go in to work. I could just imagine them in a lecture for 250 people walking all over the laptop and switching the slides on PowerPoint
. Might keep the students awake though!!!

LOL! If I could I would, Diamond loves going places so she would love to come to work with me!!!! But I work at a bar so I guess thats not the best place for a cat LOL!

Also if you are allowed to bring your cat to work and he is lonely without you, I would go for it! You can always try and see what your cat thinks! I'm sure he'll love running around sniffing the office LOL! Wont hurt to try.

I keep thinking about bringing Ghibli with me, as he loves PEOPLe.. but the more and more he stays with Paige, the more she misses him when he's not around (I put him in his room yesterday for not sharing play time, and she wouldn't play.. she just sat out side the door.. I suppose that backfired.) And I couldn't have Paige and Ghibli here without Molly, and well, Taking three cats to work would be too much an adventur.. (especially since mose hates traveling and new places.)
