83 Year Old Man Walks 8 hrs.

Hi all I thought I would share this with you, as it broke my heart, and it truly makes me see there is good in everyone, and this man to me is remarkable. I am just appalled that the MBTA wouldn't let him on, I mean he had his cat in a box, it just upsets me. Well hope you find the article as uplifting as I did.

Hmmm, he should have tried to sneak the cat in or talk to another agent before walking 8 hours in the snow. That's awful! Anyway, I hope all the vet bills end up being covered. If he can't afford a cat carrier, he probably can't afford the remaining poriton of the bill.

It is a heartwarming story but it does upset me that he lives in an urban area with good public transportation (I know this because my sister used to live in Sommersville which is right next to Cambridge/ Boston), is 83 years old, and had to walk 8 hours in the snow! That is ridiculous.

Wow the guy walked 8 hours in 20 degree weather... I'm 22, and it's 30-something outside and I can barely walk to my car! What a guy!

OMG driving from somerville to Jamaca Plain is a haul....never mind walking it....I probably would have done the same thing though...when a loved ones in trouble your adrenaline pumps....5 foot tall women lift 2 ton cars off there children....I belive that love can do anything........Plus having a cat with a urinary blockage is seriously scary stuff....I am glad the two of them are doing alright....

Can you adopt grandparents? If so, I'd love to - that man is amazing!

My heart goes out to him , he must not have any family and if he does, they should be ashamed of themselves! His cat must be his only family, I hope they live a long happy life together.

What a sweet caring man... it's really nice to know that there are people like him in the world

He is an amazing, special man.

My Dad lives in Boston and one of my brothers is east of Springfield. I just forwarded them the article, thank you so much for sharing~~

whew... i wouldnt be able to do it.. i have to walk. probably half a mile a day to feed the horses in the barn, and it makes me tired, which is sad..
i used to be an all star CC runner!

Below freezing, or in celcius it would be about -6.

Aw guys.. I'm not supposed to cry at work.. How wonderful that he managed to get ther, but how AWFUL that he had to. My grams couldn't walk down the stairs at 85, couldn't drive, and what would she have done?! If I saw an old man walking with a cat in a box, I'd pull over and see what I could do for him. I already change pregnant lady's minivan tires, lol. It's horrible though, that others don't help :/
