I'm sure everyone around the world has heard of the violent attack on the lunch mess hall where 24 soldiers of all types were killed in Iraq. 20 were from right here in the Seattle area....everyone is a little numb up here....it seems like we all know somebody who has lost someone who was supposed to come home for Christmas....... it is quite heartbreaking. I was laughing with a friend at my office and then we turned around and saw the report on tv and in a second lives are changed forever. Because we do know military families up here -- especially Eric who was a Marine -- we are waiting word like everyone else. It is agonizingly slow.

Light some extra candles tonight for all the loss and hatred in the world to go away.
Peace to everyone,
Elizabeth

Yeah, I read about that, the first report I saw said 22, wich is my number. But it rose...

I feel horrible for all the families and friends involved. I am sorry.

All military families and their friends are in my thoughts and prayers right now... especially those affected by this latest attack..
They do so much for all of us, bless them.
Elizabeth, hold Eric close tonight, he is alive and well, and another who deserves our upmost thanks and respect~

Ashley, I just read this and I am making too many mistakes typing because it just made me cry. I just wrote to Stephanie (she said very similar!) that Eric is home tonight, and making snowflakes for me on the laptop, kinda within himself with Sasha on his lap. I look at my two dark-haired guys and thank God that Eric is here, the love of my life. He cannot be re-called as he's an only son, but knowing him as I do, if he was called he would not hesitate to go. It has been my dread that he would, regardless.
He would walk right in....
Thank you for your personal wishes to him, sweet Ashley. I am breathing just a small sigh of relief knowing his law enforcement job is kinder to him in unspeakable ways.
Love,
Elizabeth

It is so awful, all the violence and hatred. Quite often after 9/11 I found myself trying so very hard to understand how one can hate another that they don't even know so strongly. It absolutely boggles my mind. I just cannot find a way to even begin to understand.

My heart definetly goes out to all the friends and families that are so anxiously awaiting word on their loved ones. It just isn't right, all the hate, violence, and destruction that has become daily news. You are right, there is a strange numbness shadowing our world as of late.

CNN showed photos of the tragedy. It's just terrible!
My prayers go for the families and friends of those lost.
