Eye On The Sky

Ringo Starrâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s got a new gig, but this one doesnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t cash in on his experiences as part of the Fab Four.

Ringo, the former Beatles drummer, has a new job as an honorary Santa tracker for NORAD – which is the agency that is responsible for the air defence of North America. This is the second year Ringo has done the job.

“The reason why he said that he wanted to do this is because he's a personal friend of Santa Claus and he has been ... for many years,†said NORAD official Canadian army Maj. Doug Martin from Colorado Springs, Colo.

Starrâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s responsibilities will include keeping an eye on Santa and his reindeer from a secret location, as they move over Great Britain.

Starr, who is apparently a big fan of the holidays and released a CD in 1999 titled I Want To Be Santa Claus, sounds excited about his job.

“I'm going to be operating one of NORAD's SantaCams and I'll try to get some high-tech images of Santa,†explained the former Beatle.

Meanwhile, Martin says that when Santa enters North America on the eastern edge of Newfoundland, NORAD will send off a few CF-18 fighter jets to accompany him on his journey and “make sure that he knows heâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s very welcome.â€
