http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/12/21/sl....ap/index.html

Bobbie Jo Stinnett and the woman accused of strangling her and cutting her baby from her womb were photographed together at a dog show months before last week's attack, a woman who attended the show said.

A photo gallery on Stinnett's own Web site --http://www.imageevent.com/happyhaven -- includes pictures labeled as being from an April 2004 dog show in Abilene, Kansas. One of the photos shows seven people holding rat terriers: Stinnett at the right, with a purple ribbon, and a woman who resembles Montgomery at the left. There is no caption identifying the people.

Her web site has been taken down, I think. But being photographed together adds a new twist to this bizarre case...

This sounds more and more like a long-planned, rather than an impulse, murder. It was premeditated in either case, according to the letter of the law. Montgomery already has two kids, so what in the world possessed her?

I heard on tonight's news that her tubes were tied, ten years ago.

She's been charged under the Lindbergh Law, since she crossed state lines. Does anyone know if that law has been updated, to include the death penalty?

The charges she is facing could include the death penalty, but the prosecutors haven't determined if they will be seeking it or not. At least not publicly.

I would like to know how she knew how to perform a C-section?

Well, I would imagine with a little research about where to cut and what depth (I'm sure that can be found online or in a library), and knowing that you don't have to be concerned with the life of the mother, it wouldn't be terribly difficult.

I read a book about a killer...honestly the most disturbing true crime book I ever read, and I've got hundreds...this guy practiced c-sections on animals (dogs, deer, anything pregnant he could find), and even sewing them back up, in practice so when he got a sex slave he could deliver the babies without taking them to a dr. and without *gag* damaging the parts he liked... *shutter* I have read about most all of the major serial killers, and nothing I have read disturbed me like that man did...

Girl, do you ever have bad dreams, reading about all those weirdos?

And why not the death penalty? Her crime was clearly heinous, without regard for anyone but herself. It was planned, and finally who in the hell is going to ever let her out of prison anyway? But I suppose it will all be 'someone else's' fault.....

The death penalty sounds reasonable, but personally I'd rather see her go to prison for life. I don't think she'd be really popular there after what she's done, so it might actually be a tougher punishment.
