I recently got a 5 month old Persian kittten. Ever since I got him, he has a diarrhea accident 1-3 times a week, usually in the morning. Is this normal or should I be concerned? He's had his vaccinations, examinations and was neutered last week. Is there something I'm missing?

Usually this is common in new kittens. Are you feeding him a different food than he was getting wherever he was? Change in diet could cause this. If he got a clean bill of health at the vet I would try adding a bit of canned pumpkin in his wet food to regulate his stools.

Same thing happend with my kitten.
As stated above, food plays a major role in his diet.If possible, you can ask the people you got him from what type of food he was eating.I just switched around a few times and he hasent had it since.

I got him (more like rescued) him from a breeder that had over a dozen of persian running around. While I was there, I saw a bag of Meow Mix, which I assume she fed to all her cats. Since we got him, I have been feeding him Innova Regular (Dry Formula). I was told kittens aren't allowed to eat wet food, as it could give them dental problems. How much canned pumpkin should I give him? Can I mix it with his dry food?

Any time you have diarrhea with kittens you need to take the kitty to the vet to be checked. Kittens can dehydrate quickly depending on how much fluid they are losing. The canned food is a myth, it is really dry food that gives cats more problems than wet. But you should run a fecal in at least and have them check for coccidia, giardia and other bacterial infections. Coming from a mulit-cat household like that, it could be anything, not just the switch of food. But yes, take the kitten off of meow mix and put him on something with more quality than that.

Yes, he is off the Meow Mix diet and eats Innova instead. I took him to the vet a few weeks ago for his second examination and vaccination series and they ran a fecal test. It came out negative so I'm thinking everyone is right and it's just his diet. I'll try the pumpkin remedy and see how it goes. Thanks for all your help everyone!
