I am flipping through my ABC, distributing magazine and I saw these

It says they are harmless to pets. I might get them, but wanted to know what you all thought?!

I had a different brand years ago and they did nothing as far as I can tell. I had cockatiels at the time and they were unaffected.

Did yours work? Was it the same brand?

I would be suspicious that the cats could hear them if the mice could. Cats have very good hearing, made to be able to hear mice. Seems like it would annoy them. Becky

Thanks for the comments guys--I've decided against them.

I don't have any rodents--except for the occasional little roach--but I hate bugs
I'm just being anal...

I just rather not have anything happen to my babies...

It wasn't the same brand, but it obviously didn't work if the mouse used to sit on TOP of it!

They actually don't bother the cats. Its a clicking noise that is just annoying. Anyone walking into my kitchen heard it.

I think the babies would be better roach control then an ultrasonic sound machine.....(can anyone truly vouch for the effectiveness of this machine???)

I'm bumping this old thread because my husband just brought home a package of 4 Bell and Howard Ultrasonic Pest Repellers. I have been freaking out about giant spiders in the house and hope these will keep them out. Has anyone used these or similar? How do they work on spiders, in particular? Amazon reviews were split almost 50/50, and most people were using them for mice and roaches.
A reviewer reported one out of his group of cats was bothered by the sound-waves. If any of my cats show signs of being bothered, the repellers will be returned immediately. I'm more worried about whether or not they'll keep the mutant spiders out of my bedroom.

I'm like you and I would really wonder if those things are bad for the kitties. This probably sounds really weird but it seems to work - my husband puts fresh chestnuts on the windowsills. We don't remember to do it every year, though, and we see spiders a lot more when we forget.

Damp areas in your home will attract spiders. Our basement is a constant struggle to keep dry, probably because we are on land that was originally swampland. It's like a warning system, when we see spiders in the house, or coming up from the bathtub drain, we know to check out the basement.

I got a spider bite between my eyes while sleeping one night several years ago. It left a pretty wicked scar so I felt a little like Harry Potter lol. Scars don't really bother me, or spiders, and we have a clear cup and piece of cardboard we keep in the cabinet to relocate the little guys outside.
