I have been having a wierd symptom. Sometimes the pulse in the right side of my neck seems very strong. It doesn't seem to be fast, just annoyingly strong. Sometimes it keeps me awake for hours. Has anyone else experienced this?

I went to the doctor, which is very unusual for me (even though I go with my boyfriend to his appointments every 3 months and always take my cats to the vet). He said it was nothing. Why would it be doing that then? I would think there is a reason. I asked the doc what I should do if it continues (which it has). He said don't worry about it! Am I just being paranoid?

You could be ultra-sensitive. The other thing you can do is when it happens go to a store where they have a blood pressure cuff and check your blood pressure. That's the only thing I can think of that could cause that. If your blood pressure does go up you need to call your doctor and tell him that. Otherwise, take your doctor's advice.

Was it happening when you were at the doctor? I think you should invest in a blood pressure kit for home. Everyone should have one anyway and they are easy to use. If your symptoms co-incide with increased blood pressure then maybe you need to discuss it with your doctor. But it could just be something you have noticed about your body and, sort of like a sore place on your tongue, you just can't get your attention off of it. If your doctor listened to your neck with his stethoscope then he didn't hear any weird sounds there, that would indicate a blood flow problem. Becky

I sometimes have the same problem.....Its anxiety...you could be having minor anxiety attacks...I have had them for years...one way to lessen these is too not consume any caffine (and i mean just a little soda) at least 6 hours before you go to bed..I have cut out caffine all together now...If your doctor said not to worry he might think its the same thing...though if he didnt check your blood pressure it might be a good idea to get it checked anyways...But i have a feeling it is just anxiety so cut out caffine and try to chill out...lol....and good luck anxiety attacks really suck

I had a similar problem and it was stress-induced.
Are you under an abnormally large amount of stress?
My doc gave me a pill called Lotrel, because it was waking
me up early, early every morning.
Like the others already said, I would invest in a digital blood pressure kit.
At least that way you would have something more concrete to tell your doctor and head off a bigger problem possibly.

Thank you all.

As far as blood pressure goes, mine is normal; however, it has not been checked while I was experiencing the symptoms. When I was at the doctor, my pulse was normal. We have a digital blood pressure kit at home and next time I'm home when it happens, I'll check it.

It usually happens in the middle of the night or in the morning before coffee. I used to drink a lot of coffee, but now I'm down to 1 or 1/2 cup when I get to work in the morning. It is unusual for me to have any other caffiene. I'd really hate to give up my little cup...but if my blood pressure comes out high, I guess I'll have to.

Stress and anxiety...The wierd thing is I really don't have as much as I had at other times of my life. My boyfriend and I get along great and my cats are healthy. I pray all the time that none of that changes. Thinking that it could does stress me deeply, but I don't know how to change that.

It helps a lot to hear that I'm not the only one. I was thinking that I had sludge in my arteries or something like that.
