here we go again with that windows installer error

ok i went to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...dowsxp.general

and found out im not the only one seeing this windows problem ok i sent a email to norton internet security and they email me back and told me step by step what to do after all this all started when i up graded to norton 2005 but not really funny!
im think i'd better wait till the family leaves just incase i blow up the computer and then i wouldn't be able to show mom the catsite im trying to get her to sign up to so when she goes home she can get on here with us and show furbabbie

I recommend that you manually uninstall previous symantec product and then reinstall NIS 2005.

Manual uninstall

1. Click on Start, point to Run and type in REGEDIT in the box. Click OK. Please backup the Windows registry before proceeding. Please refer the following document for assistance with this issue:

2. Find and delete the following registry keys:


3. Close the registry editor

To delete the associated folders in the Program Files folder:
1. Open My Computer
2. Double Click on the C: Drive
3. Double Click on Program Files
4. Locate and Delete the Symantec Folder
5. Locate and Delete any Symantec program folder (Norton AntiVirus, Norton Internet Security, Norton Personal Firewall, Norton System Works, etc.)
6. Restart the Computer.

After uninstalling, please follow the below steps to reinstall NIS 2005.

Good luck with that. Print out the page and make sure you set up a system restore point before you start. Then if the worst happens, you should be able to go back to a state where at least something worked!! Just in case you didn't think of this already.

Good luck! I had a similar problem last Monday. The "restore system" tip is a good one!

yep i tried that one three weeks ago it worked up in till a couple of days ago

well id say, save all your pictures and music and wipe out your harddrive and start over
