From the CNN article: 'The winner must be "the person or persons who most affected the news and our lives, for good or for ill, and embodied what was important about the year, for better or for worse," he said.'

I can understand why those chose Pres. Bush from those guidelines.

Yeah according to their guidelines I would agree with their selection. But of course after they by pass Osama in 2001, I guess there are exceptions to their rule.

Based on their criteria, I agree. Remember Hitler was their "Man of the Year" once too.

Let's face it, Bush represents America now, He is like this steroid thing. All flash no substance, no real building, instead quick fixes. Make this "disneyland" of an image of Democracy in Iraq, you know, like Disneyworld, clear the land, and then create some fantasy in the desert, and have neon lights flash saying "Freedom" so that makes it real. While reality is ignored and washed away like
dirt on the grounds in "Happy Island".

It will pass, like the Civil War before it, this blight on America's history will
pass.

Merry Christmas everyone, hug your loved ones... *sigh*

I half expected them to name Abu Musab Zarqawi, the Jordanian behind so many insurgent attacks in Iraq.

No, I see him as more of a regional thing rather than a global issue. To the extent that his attacks have increased oil prices, that would be his main global reach. He is a person who actions is ultimately limited to a particular region much like Giuliani's action was limited to a particular place. Furthermore, to a certain extent he is reacting to Bush's policy in Iraq.

I was taking a look at the complete list and realised that from 1960 onwards, each President gets 1 Time Person of the year per term. So 2 nominations for those who served 2 terms even if they resigned (Nixon).
