Hopefully I got the right kind of fish oil. It's 1200mg per pill and it has omega3 and omega6 and it's cholesterol free. It also has EPA and DHA. They're made by Nature's Bounty. How much should I give my 20lb cat??

Anybody??

I've been giving him one pill a day hoping it isn't too much.

Also, does anyone have any recomendations for dandruff controll, at least something to moisturize his skin so it won't be itchy?

I was told to give 500 mg. a day to my almost 14-lb. cat, so 1200 sounds like an awful lot. The dandruff should improve very quickly because of the pills, i.e., it should be gone within two to three weeks.

Sometimes fish oils can help with dandruff, but I don't know anything about dosage.
I'd suggest you give the vet a call & ask to make sure the dosage you're giving is correct. Regular brushing might help a bit with the dandruff, too, to distribute the skin's natural oils & get rid of the dead skin flakes.

I would recommend giving him a bath at least once a month. The weight seems a bit high too, so he may not be able to groom himself as well as he used to.
