I sprained my ankle two x-mases ago, right on x-mas eve, and it also involved the stairs (though I was going UP them -- NOW who's the geek? LOL)

I ended up walking on a cane for two weeks! It sucked! Hope you didn't break it or sprain it... maybe with some luck it'll be fine in a day or two.

Good luck! Keep us posted.

Yeah I think I am alright...lol...I am just in pain...though not enough pain that it might be broken..(though I can only assume because I have never broken anything before)

You said that you banged your arm pretty good.......please go get checked out. Something similar happened to me and I ended up with a major blood clot at the age of 26. The older you are the more at risk you are of developing a blood clot. It's not very common for people younger thatn 40 or so but I was an excecption......I hope that you are ok.

Hope you feel better soon!

Awww thank you yeah I will go checked it out..I am only 23 but id rather be safe then sorry...I am more worried that my carpel tunnel will come back in my arm..though I am not sure if hitting it would upset that condition or not...and thank you for the concern...I will assure you that I feel more stupid then hurt right now......lol

I've sprained my ankle a couple of times - just before events requiring mw to stand! ONce was a choral concert (in high heels - ouch) and the other time was the day of a wedding rehearsal. I was singing a duet and the bride originally wanted us to sing from the choir loft - up steep narrow stairs!!!! Thank goodness she changed her mind.

so, does that make me twice the geek you are?

Oh no! You ARE not a geek - I'm the geek for totally missing the curb last week, falling smack on my right knee and turning my left ankle. I have a lovely bruise and gash to prove it too!

Maybe we're all geeks!

I guess we all have our moments
The other day in my basement I was hanging some clothes on the rack we have for things I wont put in the dryer, it got caught in the leg of my pants, so when i turned away, it tipped over, and so did I!! I too have a bruised knee, and my left hand hurts - you know, right where you put it out to block a fall.....
I wouldnt worry about carpal tunnel, thats a repetitive strain condition that shouldnt be revived from physical injury!

hehe.... when i was still going to school there was a supermarket right next to our school. I was supposed to bring papercups in but i forgot, my friend reminded me as i walked into class. So i just chucked my school bag in there and my blazer and ran like crazy because the teacher was in a hurry up the stairs..
On the way down i tripped then slipped and i managed to grab onto the rails and i swung! i some how hurt my ankle and i really hurt my arm but i was still limping very quickly and made it to safeway! I came back 10 minutes later and the teacher just gave me a really weird look because i had my things in my seat and he most likely saw me run out of school

Oh, man, I hate when I do something like that! I have a pair of backless shoes with 4 inch heels, and they kinda slip a little on my feet when I'm walking down stairs. Well, a while ago when we still lived in an apartment, I, too, was late and rushing to work. Well, I was wearing those lovely shoes, and they slipped a little on my foot, causing the heel to catch to edge of the stair. This made me start to fall down the stairs, and I scrambled to grab the railing, which I was almost successful doing. However, the end result was me tumbling down the last three stairs with much grace. I stumbled away with a very bruised knee, ankle, hand, and ego. Although I must admit that I was laughing at myself all the way. And I still do to this day whenever I think of that story!
It wasn't too terribly surprising- I've always been a little uncoordinated and clumsy

Glad to hear that you didn't hurt yourself seriously, I am also blessed with "grace", I once was running to answer the phone(old dial model sitting on the floor) slipped and "dialed" the phone with my little toe, resulting in breaking it badly and being unable to wear a regular shoe for a week and having a sore foot for almost two months. You are not a clumsy geek in my book. Hope you feel better soon, hugs...

Glad to hear you're okay and it's just a sprain (vs. broken). Do yourself a favor... if they gave you crutches, ditch them and get a metal adjustable cane at the pharmacy to help you get around... much less clunky than the crutches and won't hurt your sides/under-arms
-- When I sprained my ankle during the holidays that cane became my best friend for the first two weeks.
