sorry this is so off-topic, but I was wondering if I could get some advice/input on this...

A few days ago, I noticed that my left foot (inside, by my big toe) started hurting when I was wearing my boots. I checked my boots and couldn't find anything wrong with them (felt like a wrinkle in my sock) and figured it was just a one day thing and that it would pass. But it hasn't. Now my foot is quite sensitive around my big toe and since I've shifted my weight onto the outside of my leg to compensate, I'm now starting to have pain running along the outside of my leg, down by my ankle. I'm starting to limp now. Any ideas what it could be/what do do about it? I've wrapped my foot in a pressure bandage, but I don't really know what else I could do...

Any ideas? The last thing I want is for my boyfriend to see me limping! He'd probably try and carry me everywhere! (would make it a bit hard to walk the dog, wouldn't it?
)

Hmm. Have you been doing anything that could have possibly caused a stress fracture? I had one in my foot this summer that I got from hiking without sufficiently shock-absorbant footwear and it hurt like the dickens.

I don't think so... I've been under stress these last few days, what with exams and end of classes, but I don't do that much strenuous activity... walking the dog and walking to/from school/bus/shopping center is about as strenuous as it gets!
This feels more like a muscle thing than a fracture...

A double whiskey may help?
You don´t cure the pain but almost you can forget about it!

Sorry I couldn´t resist!!!!!

Seriously maybe you need to rest and take 2 days off? how about it?

Weird. Maybe your boot is too tight in that spot, or you pulled the laces too tight?

I like Rigel's suggestion--a double whiskey cures all.
Seriously though, have you tried ibuprofen (advil) for the pain? I actually find it works wonders for muscle aches.

hmmm.....
Did you cut ur toe nails? There could be an infection under the nails and may have spread.
You can try having a nice warm bath with oils and pepermint tea for your feet.
Yes just put peppermint tea in the bath tub its not gross its so releiving
the best advice i can give you is to ygo to your doctor

It may be an ingrown toenail. Our daughter got them so bad she actually went to a podiatrist and had surgery. My husband gets them very bad as well. They can be very sore. It wouldn't hurt to have a doctor check it out just in case you have a sprain or fracture which would be more serious than an ingrown toenail.

Depends where it is but it could be a bit of soft tissue damage - I hurt my foot near my big toe some years ago and could barely walk. I don't like going to the doctor but was sufficiently worried to limp myself there feeling it must be something nasty. He prodded around and couldn't feel anything out of place (he was looking for a broken toe or something similar) and said it was soft tissue damage. He advised me to rest it and it would get better in its own time - he was right.

A trip to the doctor might be the best thing. Hope it feels better soon.

might not be such a bad idea
... I'm going back to Montreal in a few days, where I have medical insurance, so if it's still sore then, I'll go to a walk-in clinic and see what they have to say...

Yeah just go to the doctor and have them check it out. I had ingrown toenail sugergy twice on 4 toes :shudder: One of the times I developed an infection deep in my foot after the surgery, and the doctors were really serious about it, so don't delay

Best of luck,
Brandon

Ooh I always forget about the medical insurance thing. Here when it comes to seeing the doctor - we just make an appointment and go! We pay through our salary for the National Health Service. I couldn't imagine having to think about paying per consultation.

Movin' on up!
Go to a podiatrist. The limp is being caused by you shifting your weight. I have a heel spur and developed tendinitis, from walking off-kilter. It took six weeks in a walker boot, to clear up the inflammation. Custom orthotics took care of the spur and the funny walk.
