I am sure that most of us work in a setting where we have to deal with people. In my case, working at Dominos... We have to deal with phones. There are a few things about ordering pizzas that most people don't know.

(This is HERE at the store I work at, I don't know about other stores) We have a caller ID system where we work. It doesn't always work, so sometimes we have to ask for a phone #. Today... OMG... This guy called, he would NOT give me his phone # he just kept telling me it was "IN THE DAMN PHONE BOOK" so I hung up on him after yelling at me like 5 times. He called back, and yelled at me again. We DO NOT have to look up a customer's phone #. We DO NOT have to take an order from a customer that refuses to give us a phone #. The reason we need it is for our driver's safety. What if they don't want us to have the # cuz they plan on jumping our driver and taking his/her $... My hubby is a driver.

Sometimes there is just one person working, during that time if we have pizzas that needs to be made, or taken out of the oven before they pile up on each other, we will put a phone on hold long enough to take care of them, wich shouldn't take more then a few minutes. The worst thing to do is hang up and call back. What happens then is the person will be put on hold again and again while the people who stayed on the line are helped. We work it on a longest on hold first served basis.

We also have very slow, old computers, and when a customer starts blurting out their order before we even get to verify the phone #(when the caller ID is working, or ask for the # if it isn't) and address, they end up repeating themselves and sometimes get angry.
It's very importent for us to verify the address cuz we want your pizza to go where you are
Once we have the address and phone # verified, we need to know what size, what kind of crust... then what toppings.

It's kinda funny when we get people who order their toppings before even letting us know what size pizza, the computers we use are set up in a certain order. We need to know the size, what kind of crust, what toppings, then if you want NO cheese, or extra sauce, or no sauce etc.

I had a not so great day at work today, and it's not like any of you will ever order from my store where I work, but maybe you will from others. Keep in mind that the people on the phones are people too (I know TCS-ers are always sweet, wonderful, kind and patient, I just have to get this off my chest
lol ) We have feelings, we don't like being called stupid, dumb, retarted, or any other name. If you let us ask the questions, and answer them, your phone experience with us will be fast. The faster the phone conversation is, the quicker we can get to making your pizza. Then it will be quicker getting to you

Remember, (I told a guy this today) You gotta be nice to us cuz we are the ones MAKING YOUR FOOD
LOL... (that is a joke, I NEVER EVER EVER would do anything bad to anyone's food, that is low down evil and dirty) that guy got his pizza a half hour late cuz he was rude very rude to me. He yelled at me, called me names, then wanted me to look up his phone # because he couldn't remember it... I didn't have to try to look it up, I could have refused him service. But... I wanted to feed the evil man, and I made his pizza very nice, and it was delivered fresh and hot. I told the guy his pizza would be there in about an hour and he said okay. In 45 minutes he called back wondering where it was. I calmly explained to him that we were rather busy (We actually were) and that his food was on its way. GRRRRRRRR Next time, I will REFUSE to look up anyone's phone # If they don't know it, they don't need pizza... This is the worst part, he told me his name was Dwayne... Then (the taxi driver called me the last time, gave me his #, and ordered his food for him) I found out his name was CARL... NO WONDER I COULDN"T find his # in the phone book. DUH!!! The guy didn't know his # or name. Turns out that Dwayne is his middle name. I think the guy had been drinking.

Thankyou, your pizza should be there within 30 to 45 minutes, have a nice day.

Some people just can't be nice to people in the service industry. I had a friend whose mother was like that and she was embarrassing to be with. I usually ask the person on the phone what they need to know first because I know that the computer systems are not always easy to work with. Remember, I work for a software company. And yes, when a customer is rude we tend to work a little more slowly for them. I've been known to put a rude person on hold while I work on their problem instead of calling them back and letting them do something else while I work on their problem.

Oh, i completley understand your situation, i worked in fast food all through high school, and yes, NO ONE under ANY circumstance should ever be rude to ANYONE who has control over your food. You seem to be a bit nicer, but we did everything from fry hamburgers in degreaser(grill cleaner), put dirt in gravy, drop bun on floor then run it through toaster(you can tell what is dirt and what is crunchy grilled stuff) and oh it gets worse... we would put ketchup in straws and then put it in customers drinks... then they would be stupid enough to drink it(never drink out of a straw someone else put in it for you), one customer actually threw the drink at the guy that handed it to her, very funny, yes he was fired on the spot, we also melted chocolate laxatives into the hotfudge... most of the time we never got in trouble for anything, out managers knew that hungry people are very mean people, and people who make your food are mean right back.
I totally sypathize with you, i am usually a big kiss a$$ when i am out somewhere eating, i know what people do, cuz i used to do it!
If you have ever been b*tchy to someone who has served you food, dont be surprised at some of the things you have eaten...

AMEN!!!!!! sometimes i think customer service was made to punish people like us....you know the ones who are too polite for our own good...Some people are just bitter and ignorant..they think people who work in food places or grocerie stores or gas stations are just dumb pin cousions...but what they dont realize is if they didnt have us...They wouldnt get very far would they.....I totally commend you for keeping your cool...I have had many the time when I "lost" it on an unruly customer, and though they deserved it, it went against all I believe in, and thats respect for everyone.......if everyone just showed everyone else respect I gaurentee this world would be a lot better place!!!!!

I know,
I found some really nice turkish people.
I can understand why they say bad things about them out of frankfurt because i have actually seen first hadn that they caused fights but i was lucky that i had gotten away. My bf's sister got punched up by a group of boy turks and it was horrible
Its jut bad because the girls get the bad reputation too and some of them are the best women that you could ever meet!
But i do like going to our Doner store, Although i get sick from it now they still give us discounts!

I acutally didn't think anyone would respond, but yeah... I've wanted to post a 'rules for ordering dominos' post since I started coming to TCS. I never thought it would go anywhere since, like I said earlier, TCS-ers are all sweet, patient, loving, kind and nice people

Yeah, I did loose my cool. Not exactly to the guy on the phone, I hung up on him twice. When the taxi driver called, I told him his passenger was an @$$****. The taxi driver just laughed. I so wanted to be mean to the guy, I wanted to jump up and down on his pizza. I wanted to... well, yeah, I just wanted to be mean and evil, but ... SIGH I would really NOT want it coming back to me, so I just made him wait an extra half hour for his food. EVIL ME

I bragged about it to all my co workers when they came into work. One guy said I shouldn't have called him a name, I just didn't explain that I told the taxi driver he was, and not him himself
I let them THINK I told the guy he was an !@#$%^&
I even told my general manager, who LOVES me about it, and she told me NOT to tell the owner. I feel I handled the situation very badly, but... SIGH, what's a girl to do? Let some meany walk all over her?

Hint to all ordering, let the people who are TAKING your order be in control of the conversation
Things will go faster.

The rudest thing I've ever done to anyone's pizza... we poured jalapeno(SP?) juice on someone's pizza one time who was REALLY RUDE. Once to a really mean woman who came in, I put really really sharp 6blend cheese in the sauce on her pizza, then way over topped it... why is that bad? Too many toppings, and the pizza is chewy and raw cuz the dough doesn't coook
LOL

I never would do anything that would cause someone to be sick, or feed them something that could kill, or make them sick.

My hubby once (before we met, while he lived in michigan) tossed a pizza to the ceiling, and got a layer of dust and grit on the dough before topping a pizza... lol

I noticed the problems Germans had with Turks when I was in Germany too. I dated a Turk and a Persian while I lived there and with both of them Germans would glare at me when they saw me with them and I saw them treated very similarly to how blacks are treated in many places here in the US (only it's more blatant). But I had a German woman spit on me "Amerikanerin!" when she heard my accent.

I don't understand how people could be so closed minded, I always was told to get to know the person before you judge them. ANYONE could be your future spouse or best friend...

My Rage, be careful with hot sauce. My sister and I both have capsaicin reactive asthma. In other words, no hot sauce. But then we're usually super nice to people and give great tips unless they REALLY piss us off (in other words, ignore us almost to the point of not even taking our order and fawning all over other tables from the moment we walk in).

I work on a switchboard and thankfully we don't get that many nasty customers on the telephone, but i have had a few in the past, in fact i had one 3 weeks ago and i said "If you carry on speaking in that manner i'm afraid i'm going to end the call because i won't be spoken to like that!".

I sympathise with you!.

Speak to people how you would want to be spoken to!, thats the way i look at it.

"We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who does not treat our customers and employees with dignity and respect."

We actually had to post this sign in one of our McDonald's locations.
