I have been caring for two feral cats. A few weeks back, I built them a cat house about the size of a big bath tub. They each have a bed along with a fleece throw. They come in the house often and have a blast. They play often and you can tell they are best of friends. They tackle each other with their tails wagging. It's great to see these cats have such fun. Their personalities are really coming out. I orginally insulated their house with styrofoam from Home Depot. With the forecast in the NY saying 20 degrees, I felt it might be cold for them. I stopped at Home Depot tonight and purchased this heavy insulation boards that were coated with foil. I lined the house with the boards. I'm concerned about the cats inhaling bad fumes or worse eating a loose piece of insulation. I didn't see any loose pieces, but I'm still concerned. I don't want my guys to be cold, but I also do not want to do anything to jeopordize their health.

Any suggestions? Will my cats be safe?

You would really need to look on the packaging of the insulation, there is usually an 800 number you can call and they can tell you-

Thank you for caring-

I ended up going back to Home Depot the following night. I spoke w/ someone and we both agreed it couldn't be good for the cats if they get into it. To quote him, "That's what cats do...they get into things". So, I pulled out the new insulation and put a double layer of styrofoam. I'll sleep easier and they'll be a little warmer.
