Yesterday was one of those days where everything went wrong. It started out when I was walking from the train station to school - a pigeon flying overhead cut loose and hit the down jacket I had just washed on Saturday. One of my classes was taking a test, so naturally public transport almost came to a standstill because of the sub-zero temperatures, and several kids came too late - I had to pull them out of another class today and have them take the test. Got home, and was informed by my husband that he'd lost his keys.Yesterday evening I turned on my computer and discovered that my virus software, updated Sunday evening, had "eaten" part of my AOL software, so I couldn't go online. "Restore system" didn't work. Installing the software again didn't work, until I deleted all the old versions on my hard disk. I just about got things straightened out when we lost power downstairs. My husband switched the circuit breaker back on, and I heard something "sizzling". So I went into the kitchen and discovered a fire underneath the kitchen sink! Put it out (tip: a fire extinguisher is a must), but called the fire company just in case, and because it makes things easier when dealing with the insurance company. Apparently we had a defective socket. Well, the dishwasher, which wasn't running at the tme, was plugged in there, and the plug had melted.

The good news is: The electrician came first thing this morning, the dishwasher is working just fine now, I found hubby's keys in the front yard, and obviously I have Internet access again.

Well, it looks like things are looking up for you.
I've had days like that before but usually things don't turn around that quickly for me!

Oh Tricia! Looks like you have your bad luck for the rest of the month. I lost my keys a few months ago and found them today so looks like my days already off to a good start. Well not really because I did wake up with a cold sore. *stamps feet* Sam

Fwan, I know all about kids doing that, but that particular class isn't like that at all. A few of them called me on my mobile to say they were stuck, too. Our school will only allow make-up tests if the kids present a doctor's note or one from the public transit authority or police stating the length of the delay, the route, etc., and they all have to pay a €12 fee per make-up test. Failure to do so results in a "6" (an "F", or failing grade). That really cuts down on the number of kids missing tests, believe me.
