How Clean Is Your House?

There was a family local here that had their children taken away because of the state of their home. There was a picture in the news paper and you could see feces all over the house (not just the bathroom mind you) and roaches. They youngest child (3) had to have a roach surgically removed from his ear.

I just don't see how people can live like that.

(Hehehe, can't resist this - sorry) Isn't it because you DON'T WANT one step at a time on your newly varnished floors that you are looking for a weekend home for your furbabies . . .?:-)

we get a number actually, tlc is almost entirely comprised of british spin offs. IE-Changing rooms (trading spaces) What not to wear, and how clean is your house. I think While you were out is also one of those.

As for the nasty house... I would have taken her cat!! I mena Euw!

Okay, I admit it.. I'm overdue to wash the bathroom. I need to mop and go after the loo, but I HATE cleaning the toilet, and i hope Jason will do so if I ask (he's the reason anyway, but that's true of any men's bathrooms), and a bit behind on laundry, but the box is always clean, and I vaccuum once every week or 2.

We have a spin-off on German TV, "Die Putzteufel kommen", roughly, "Here come the clean-freaks". Our house isn't too bad, as long as you don't look in my side of the closet. I used to clean the house from top to bottom twice a week, but now I do it once a week and vacuum in between. The house is small and lacks storage space, so we have to be fairly neat, and I really don't like it when things are dirty (my sister's, and sister-in-law's, homes make my skin crawl sometimes, but they have kids, and thus less time for cleaning; we all work).

I think I am a clean freak! I wash my garbage before throwing them so they are not so stinky. Like a can of food or jar, I usually do a quick rinse to get all the food or gravy out before throwing them away. Is it just me??
And I cannot stand dishes lying on the sink. It has to be washed RIGHT AWAY. When I was at this friend's house and I saw dishes in her sink I was so tempted to wash it.

That's me! When I do stuff like that, my family calls me "Aunt Elsie". She was my grandmother's older sister, and dirt or dirty dishes didn't stand a chance in her house. It must be genetic!

Its the same with me, it seems like I always have dishwater in the sink because I am forever doing dishes. Do you wash out your garbage can before putting a new bag in it? I do whether it needs it or not. I also dry the shower, sinks and washing machine when we are done with them.

Good Lord. Putting cat food near the litter box is disgusting. Not only that but it serves everyone better if the cat puke is cleaned up right away. Unlike kids, cats cannot help it when they barf all over the floor, however, in this cat's case -- the owner is to blame entirely (truly not the cat's fault). Maybe she should find the cat a better home, since she cannot care for the cat?

My house is a tad bit furrier than it was before, after taking in two more cats (both are long hair -- one is part Maine Coone and a furry little booger). I come home and I find big ol black furballs that Snickers has shed out while playing ruefully with the other boycats. Dusty pukes every now and then because she's so skittish; but thankfully it's always in the same spot (my daughter's room) and it's never much. =-)

I'm a neat freak though, people who have lately been coming to my house for Card Night have said they could not tell I had cats --- until of course the cats come out and make a bed in their laps.

I saw these two ladies on the Oprah show a few weeks ago. The were called in to clean the house of a lady here in California. They certainly didn't hold back on what they found.

This lady was going thru mental depression. She had mouldy strawberries sitting out, and dirty dishes that hadn't been washed in years. Also, this lady let her dogs poo poo all over the bathroom floor and the inside of her toilet was black as well, (according to the ladies) human poo poo was all over the seat and the rim, plus there was human poo poo residue through out the house. The ladies told the woman, she obviosly didn't wash her hands after going to the bathroom. How humiliating. Strangely the lady just took it all in with little or no embarrassment. I would have died if someone told the world that I had human poo poo all over the house. Anyway, after they cleaned her house, she had a beautiful home.

Euw...i just cant watch it - although i did see the Very end of the US one tonight while waiting for another prog to come on. I just cant believe it. some guy in Las Vegas i think - made me retch!
I never watched that too posh to wash one because that, for me, was 'one step beyond'.

I admit I am incredibly untidy! I have a tidy blitz once a week and find things I thought were gone forever. The 2 rooms I do keep tidier are the bathroom and the kitchen. I dont know why but I definately have a thing about clean baths and sinks. so wahtever else I do clean my bath

Sorry but Mary Anne is right - she needs help and I think it was quite cruel that they put this on TV.

I am considered quite a clean freak these days - although I've only been this way a month or two. I clean my room every day, sometimes twice a day. I vacuum my room everyday, and wipe the walls and all sorts. I love living in a clean enviroment! Plus I scoop litterboxes at LEAST twice daily and scrub them out every two days.

Sam.

I don't think this woman was sick. She was very nonchalant about everything. I've had a lot of experience in dealing with the mentally ill and I think this woman was just disgusting and lazy.

Now DH and I have too much stuff so our house always looks like a bomb has hit and we don't do the floors as often as we should, but darn! at least we clean up! When I was severely depressed my house still looked clean compared to this woman's and my Mom thought my house was horrid!

We have the same ladies do our show here in the US that you guys have in the UK and yes, we have quite a number of spinoffs from British shows. But the show I really want to have in the US (and I'd be happy with foreign reruns) is Flying Doctors. Bring back some memories?

I have to agree with this. She laughed and said several times that she was raised in a barn. That was her excuse/explanation for it. I can see things getting out of hand and mess building up, but at least she could have taken care of the cat's needs.
