Hi folks, I'm passing the hat to Gayef this week. Thank you all for your interest and all the great questions.

To start with my questions for Gayef:

Do you have many close girlfriends?

Do you go out on Girls' Night Out?

Hi Gaye!
I'm so happy to have a chance to get to know you better!

I know you breed Siamese, and also do Siamese artwork (which is fabulous, BTW!) so I'll ask a couple questions about that.

What drew you to Siamese cats over any other breed? What makes them so special to you?

Do you have any formal art training? Are your current cats the inspiration for your artwork?

Congratulations Gayef!

Thank you for the link on senior cats!
My question: In kindergarten, were you the hyperactive child or the contented, quiet one?

*hug Linda* Thanks for thinking of me!

OK, yes, I have many close girlfriends ... two here locally, Tricia and Sherry and then one in Connecticut, Barb and one in Florida, Anne and of course, one of my all-time favorite girlfriends is in Sweet Home, Oregon, Mary Anne.

Well, I don't know if this counts as "Girl's Night Out", but every Monday night, Tricia, Sherry and I meet at a local restaurant to see Sherry's cousin LeeAnn and her mother, Cheryl. LeeAnn, bless her heart, is ummmm ... incarcerated ... at the moment and has Monday nights as "Family Night". We meet, have dinner and chat, then LeeLee has to go back to the "Convent" as we call it. We refer to her as our friend the "Nun in a cloistered order". LOL

Thanks again! Great questions!

Hi and thanks! This is going to be fun!

1. I don't know whether or not this qualifies as a hobby but ... I am an Old Style Breed Preservationist of Old-Style Siamese cats. I do a lot of historical and genetic research online and by ordering old pedigrees and try to learn from the mistakes of those who came before me. It can be exhaustive and expensive, but I feel there is just SO much to learn from these stunningly beautiful cats!

2. Not this year, I'm afraid. My son is in Florida working and my sisters both are out of town. So this year, it will just be my husband and myself.

Great questions, thanks!

Wow, it is really amazing that you asked this question ... my husband asked me the very same thing just this morning!

There is a very old perfume that I adore ... it is from Nettie Rubinstein (a fashion designer who was very popular in the 1940's and credited with creating "The Little Black Dress".) and cannot be purchased in stores anymore, it has to be ordered. My husband knows I adore it and I cannot bring myself to pay the really outrageous prices for it in order to buy it for myself. He placed the order for it via the Internet this morning ... and got me the Perfume spray (NICE!!) and my favorite, the bath powder. That was the one thing I really wanted. I just love the stuff.

Great question, thanks!!!

*hug Heidi* Thank you, lamb. I am glad Yosemite nominated me. This is such a great way to get to know people!

Siamese cats have been a part of my life forever. I was born on December 25, 45 years ago now in a blinding snowstorm. Dad couldn't drive Mom to the hospital and the ambulances couldn't get in to help, so I was born at home with my grandmother, my mother and my mother's two Siamese litter mates, Wiggle and Wanton, in attendance. I grew up with them and grew to love their intelligence, respect their moods and whims, and to cherish their loving natures. While I love ALL cats, no matter what their lineage, Siamese are closest to my heart.

I have no formal training in anything. But the inspiration for my art was indeed a Siamese cat ... I had a very special Seal Point Siamese girl - I was there when she came into this world - who was with me through two marriages, many moves and oh-but-so-many good and bad times. Between the two marriages, she even lived with me in my car for a while ... anyway ... when she was about 12 years old, she became quite ill. I knew her time was close and I became almost paralytically depressed . I couldn't go to work (worked for the State of Virginia Department of Agriculture at the time - I was the Web Developer and Campaign Manager for the Beef Board's ads and marketing). I couldn't eat. I couldn't sleep. I sat down at my computer, opened Photoshop and began to draw what I could "see" in my mind - my little girl in various places, poses, actions, behaviors ... so my art is really a tribute to her. So, I suspect it would be fair to give her the credit for inspiring it. As I mentioned before, I was there when she came into this world, so I must also tell you that I was there when she went out of it. *sigh* I haven't been the same since she died.

Great questions!!!!

You are welcome! I sincerely hope it was of assistance to you!

Well, in kindergarten, I was the quiet one, but it wouldn't be true to say I was the contented one. My childhood wasn't ... well, it wasn't one most would consider to have been happy. I adored my kindergarten teacher though - she would sit and wait with me when Mom forgot to pick me up ... which happened frequently - and teach me French and about fashion and about how to be a "lady". I mentioned in my response to Captiva the perfume I adore ... well, it was the fragrance that this lady wore.

Great question!!! Thanks!

I don't normally drink a lot of juice ... does Diet Dr. Pepper count? *grin* I drink an awful lot of that!

Oh gosh, to narrow it down to only ONE favorite food is REALLY difficult, but if I have to *smile* I would have to say breakfast foods ... eggs, bacon, grits, toast with butter, hashbrowns "scattered, smothered and covered" (scattered with onions, smothered with green peppers and covered with cheese), and of course the all-important COFFEE, light and sweet.

I wasn't blessed with children of my own - but I do have a 20 year-old step-son named Matthew. I have known him since he was 2 and raised him from the age of 9 on through. He moved out when he was 17, is currently a junior in college, and totally supporting himself. He is a joy to me and I am a better person for having the honor of raising him to be a man.

My husband, bless his heart, thinks the moon and stars were hung on my cooking, but alas, I don't think I am that good at it. There are a few things I make well, and I adore baking, but most of my dishes would rank in the "country cooking" category. I make big pots of turnip greens and chicken with dumplings ... stuff that sticks to your ribs as my husband says.

Oh my collections! *LOL* My husband calls them "dustcatchers". I collect anything related to Siamese cats ... of course. But I also collect my wedding china which was discontinued in the 1980's. I find a lot of it on Ebay - gotta love old Ebay - and have picked up some really nice pieces that I wanted for very little money. I also collect old pedigrees - but this is a part of my breed preservation hobby really. I just love to look at them and think of the cats who populated them. I wonder about the people, and if they were like I am about their pets ... in other words, I daydream a lot! *LOL*

Really great questions, thanks!!!

*hug Sam* Hi Sam!!

For the convenience and time-saving factors, I shower as a general rule, but the fact is that I absolutely ADORE a nice, warm, bubbly, tub to soak in. I put a bunch of smelly stuff in the water, lay back and read a book or just reflect a while ... *sigh* When we built our home, my husband worked two weeks of overtime just so we could afford this HUGE jaccuzi tub for "my" bathroom.

Oh you minx! You are gonna make it so I have to pick one breakfast food, aren't you!!!??? *LOL* OK, a western omelette is my fav!

I last ate (please don't let me spoil anyone's meal here) some liver pate on toast with a little mayo and a slice of tomato.

Great questions!!!!

You are so very sweet, lamb. Thank you for your kind compliments. My priority is to give back the knowledge that so many others have taken time from their busy lives to give to me. I have been so very blessed with people in my life who cared enough about me and who wanted nothing more than to see me go forward when the sad truth was that progression was always a struggle for me as a younger person. I can only hope to be able to give to others the valuable lessons these people have given to me.

This was a great question, thank you so much!!!!

Well then Howdy Neighbor! Even if you aren't still around here, you are still from around here and that makes you a neighbor in these parts!

Actually, I dislike both ... but my husband puts chicken into our smoker and then (I swear I don't know what I did to deserve this man, he is a true prize!) pulls it off the bone for me. It is the only way I will eat chicken at all. I cannot abide the texture of pork so I don't eat it - ever. *shudder*

Wow ... 5 people from the past ... OK, the first person would be my Dad. He died 3 years ago today and I am really thinking of him tonight. And my friend who recently died, Patti, and my kindergarten teacher ... oh, and my first ever boss, Mr. Rossman, and probably the person who invented panty hose. I have a few choice words for that person!

The one event that changed my views ... *sigh* ... would have been my father's death. It completely reversed my views on assisted suicide.

Great questions!!!! Thanks!

Hey there girlfriend~

I want to know where you get your patience from?

If you can tell me about your home, I have a sneaking suspicion it is stunning!

Do you have a green thumb?
