I'm watching Arsenic and Old Lace and wondered if I'm the only old movie buff on the forum or if there are others? If so, what's your favorite?

That would be (Stan) Laurel and (Oliver) Hardy. They began working together, in silent movies.

My all-time favorite movie is Casablanca. I'm also a Mae West fan and all of her 30s movies were B&W. The old horror movies are better, in B&W, too. You just KNOW that SOMETHING is going to jump out of those shadows!

I love Buster Keaton! I have and LOVE the movie The General... I was a Telecomm major in class and that meant watching a lot of silent/black & white movies... The General was my favorite of all of them, I died laughing!

I LOVE Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, and some of those real old, dreamy LARGE musical ones where all the ladies are dancing girls (Zeigfield Girls)...
It all just seemed so innocent with the entertainment back then....

Are you sure that it wasn't "The Egg and I"?

I like the old B/W movies as well. Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers, Judy Garland with or without Mickey Rooney and so on.

Oh yes, I like some of the old Swedish and French black and white films too. There was a Swedish one about an opera singer that was married to a politician on last month. It was so stagey it was cool!

I love "Holiday Inn" and "Some Like It Hot". Even though it's colour, a film from the same kind of time happens to be my all time favourite "High Society". Bit of a Bing Crosby thing going there in case you hadn't noticed

I love "To Kill a Mockingbird." I think that is my favorite B&W movie.
I also love the really cheesy old monster, biker, and dragstrip movies from the 50s and 60s.
I saw one on Mystery Science Theater called "Kitten With A Whip," it was Ann Margaret's first movie.
I also like the old Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello beach movies. I love it when they show them all day back to back. I will sit and watch them all day.

I have a Cary Grant/Jimmy Stewart thing going.
I'm in 7th Heaven today because it looks like Cary is on TCM this weekend. Ah, this does interfere with the house and other items that need attended to.

The house will still be there tomorrow - but the film will have finished!! Cary Grant
. come to think of it Jimmy Stewart
. I'd better check TCM here if I can get the football off the TV.

So far out in left field I got lost
I guess my all time fave movie is "Cleopatra " with Elizabeth Taylor, even though that movie isn't B/W. I love all the older biblical movies and the horrors in B/W. My favorite horror would be Dracula

"Meet me in St. Louis" is on right now and Judy Garland is singing "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas". One of my all time favorite Christmas songs but it makes me cry everytime.
