Thank you. Rachel is fine now and God willing, your sister will be too! That is what I'm focusing on right now!

Cheryl, I can't believe I'm just catching up with this thread! I am soooo sorry your family is going thru this! You and Dorothy are both in my thoughts! Very important: PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! The stress of worrying about a loved one can be draining on a body and can cause you to become sick!!

Hang in there. PM me anytime you need a shoulder

OK - UPDATE TIME: 5:40 p.m. - Tuesday - 1/25/05

At 10:30 her surgery began. The brain surgeon came out at 12:15 and said the tumor was removed successfully! In addition, said the eye surgeon was now going to do his job. At 2:30 the eye surgeon said that all tumors behind her eye were removed successfully! The both surgeries were a success!!!!!!

He told our family that they, at 2:30, were going to finish sutchering her incisions up and they'd be able to talk to everyone in about 2 hrs. As of now, I haven't heard anything yet. But the worst is over!

So far, so good. The CATSITE PHONE to heaven worked it's miracle once again! YAY
Now for the coming out of recovery in the ICU.

One step at a time! (Yes, that's me talking to myself!

UPDATE: Wednesday - 1/26/05 (Cont.d)

WARNING: DETAILS MAY BE TOO GRAPHIC TO SOME! PLEASE DON'T READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU'RE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE!**

I saw my sister today. Her front half of her skull is shaved completely. Her incision is on the top in the middle, half on one side and all the way over completely to the other side down to the ear! Her left eye is black and blue and completely swollen shut, as well as part of her forehead!

The surgeon successfully removed the tumor on her brain. The eye surgeon removed some of the tumors behind her left eye. The tumor that originally was to be benign was found to be different than they thought so they DID NOT remove it. It is all intwined all around her left eye muscle.

They sent a sample to have a biopsy done determining if it's still benign or malignant (cancerous). Either way their only way to treat it, based on the results will be with radiation or chemo-therapy. It all depends on what type tumor they're looking at to determine the treatment for her.

There's a good chasnce of her losing sight in her left eye regardless because of the position, location and size of the tumor. They don't know if it will spread, so they took what "they could" out.

Do any of you have knowledge/experience to share with me regarding radiation or chemo-therapy? What are the effects of it, if any? Is it based on how long it's given or the amount given, etc.? Any information would be helpful and appreciated. Thank you.

I'm so sad, sick & scared. A fright I've never known before therefore can't compare it to anything.

I AM ASKING YOU ALL, LIKE I'VE NEVER ASKED BEFORE IF, AS YOU READ THIS, YOU ACTUALLY STOP AND SAY A PRAYER FOR HER AND THE RESULTS. I DON'T MEAN TO JUST SAY "YEAH MY PRAYERS ARE WITH HER", I MEAN TO STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING RIGHT NOW!!!! AND SAY A PRAYER! PLEASE??????

I've already said my prayers for you, your sister and family. I know this is a very difficult thing to deal with, I have just gone down this road with my MIL.

Feel free to pm me any time, I know about some of the side effects of these drugs.

I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Cheryl, how upsetting! I pray -- did, do, and will continue to -- that your sister's tumour is not mailignant, and she makes a good recovery.
