Hi, just a vent and whine here, would anyone care to pass me some cheese to go with it? I was SO excited today because my new DSL was supposed to be hooked up, so after being on pins and needles most of the day because I was waiting for the "green light" so that I could hook it up. I was told that it would be up by 5pm, called and was told, its hooked up, go for it.....only to find that 1. its not hooked up 2. they aren't sure what is wrong 3. they won't file a "repair report" until after midnight because "its possible that they COULD be working on it till then
" OK, so why didn't they just tell me the truth the first one or two times I called and tell me to wait until tomorrow to try to set it up, now I am feeling betrayed and WILL stay up till after midnight just to see if it is on, and if it ISN'T, you can bet I will be on the "help" line pronto....grrrrrr, why can't people just be honest the first time?
Thanks for listening to my gripe....I hope this isn't the start of a long downhill battle....I had to sign a contract for a year......

I would love to know who you have this with. If it's the same as the company I have mine with, it took almost another month because they "accidentally" cancelled the order 3 times. Needless to say, when I call now, they draw straws to see who has to answer the phone.

*Fingers crossed that the green light comes on before midnight!*

then when the 3 weeks came.
I had to wait another week because the modem was actually broken

People... seriously....

At least you didn't disconnect from dial up before the DSL was SUPPOSED to be put in like I did.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
! Now, I waited up and tried again after midnight, then called the teck line as instructed only to be told" Well, gee, I don't know why they told you THAT, we can't do anything about it now until after 7am, you will have to call back then to file a trouble ticket, and BTW, if it is what we think it is, alot of CA is out of service right now and we aren't sure when it will be fixed, sorry
!!!" So now I get to wait until morning to put in a "trouble ticket" and I am SURE they probably won't be doing anything about it until monday now...oh, and my fav, the parting shot...."but be SURE to document this so that you can prove you didn't have service now so you DON'T GET CHARGED FOR IT"
boy, I can hardly wait to tell hubby, he was already steaming like a tea kettle because it wasn't on at 5 this afternoon.....ugh, beginning to think maybe I made a BIG mistake....

oh how frustrating!!! I used to be a night supervisor in a call centre a few years back while I was studing and now I just dont put up with their c**p anymore.... if I get told something like you do after being patient and getting the run around I straight away ask to speak to the supervisor - whether it is in the middle of the day or in the middle of the night - I know they ALWAYS have supervisors on, even if they tell me there is no supervisor is on. I also keep a track of every persons name that I have spoken to so that when I get on to the supervisor I am prepared.

what frustrates me is because call centres have so many employees which means often they all tell you a different thing as you have encountered - that makes me soooo mad

feel free to rant whenever you want - I so hope that green light is blinking at you when you awake in the morning

Oh, what a huge frustration, Carol!
After you've been looking forward so much to having your DSL connected, and now you have to wait even longer! Even worse, noone can tell you for sure what's wrong or how long it will take to correct it! Please, vent to us all you'd like any time at all, most of us will rant right along with you when it comes to computer problems!
Once your DSL is finally up and running, it will be worth every second of anticipation!

I don't know what a stupid "D" link is...
but whatever it is doesn't sound very good....mabe d is for dissapointment...despair....

Call them and ask to be transferred to someone that knows what they are doing, tell them you are really unhappy and they will get on the ball. If they don't, ask to speak to someone on the resolutions or escalation (sp) team (I can't remember which one I ended up with) Thats the only way I could get any results. I wound up losing my temper and called them all a bunch of jack***es!

BTW- D line stands for 'Don't know what we are doing', it can be summed up with one word.

GGGRRRRRRRRRRR!! That is for sure, everyone I talked to had a different story, and HERE is the REAL story, they HAVEN'T EVEN HOOKED ME UP!!!! After I got transfered three time THIS morning I finally get someone who says..."Ah, well, it seems that they have moved your install date back and now it is going to be Dec. 17th!!!!" *(^_(&_+)_&*&^(%(&%*^*()*&_*_+)*(_&(^**^%(^, so I asked him....OH REALLY, well would you care to tell me WHY, because it certainly wasn't MY idea??!! He hummed and hawwed around for a bit and then I broke in with, nevermind I KNOW why....YOUR company is just interested in selling as many contracts as they can and promise service in a week, even when they KNOW they can't do it, so that you will take the hook and buy it, because service in ONE week sounds so much better than TWO WEEKS TO A MONTH!!!!!!!!! I asked him what management was available to complain to and he said I would have to wait until Monday(OF COURSE) and call the Order department to complain about my lack of service....*&^)(_)_)*_+ jerks.....

Yep, when we moved to the area we are on now, we tried to get hooked up with the telephone DSL - they pulled the same on us - install date in one week - which turned into two, which turned into 4. We ended up going with cable - and while we have had troubles with the cable company with our TV - the internet service has been A1!

You poor thing - I can really sympathize. We waited forever, it seemed, till DSL became available in our area. I signed up for it right away, only to be told I'd have to wait 6 weeks. At least they were honest about it. I got the modem, and notice that it'd be available as of 11 a.m. on a Wednesday. Well, it was finally available about 8 p.m.. That was a very long and frustrating day. The speed makes up for it, though - you'll be thrilled. Just be careful to have a firewall and anti-virus software that is updated as often as possible, as DSL connections are very vulnerable. I switched firewalls yesterday, which meant being online for about ten minutes without one. My virus software was announcing attacks left and right.
