Would this be ok for a toy?

My cats LOVE pens!
So I bought a box for my pens, and we make sure to put them away (I don't want ink everywhere
), but do you think it would be ok for them to play with pens that have the ink tube taken out? I'm talking about the plain old BIC ones that you just pull the ink out.

I let mine play with pens as long as the lids are securely on

I've given one of mine "empty" ink pens too - it is either that or have her steal the ones I am using. She however hasn't shown any interest in them in a bit - must be her new brother keeping her busy.

I can't keep a pen on the top of my desk. Sally will steal them. I have a tray with a groove for a pen and for awhile if I put one in that she was foiled. Until she learned that if she presses on one end with her foot the other will come up and she can grab it in her mouth. Becky

My cats want to play with pens too, but I'm afraid they will hurt themselves!
Have you tried using drinking straws for toys? Milo loves them, he throws them in the air and then chases after them!
