I just found out that my BMI is 35! So I'm officially obese

I've made up my mind to get back on the healthy lifestyle track. I have a lot to think about and figure out on the way, as to why I'm overeating and what can I do to control this habit.

So... whenever I need to think something over, I start a new website

Introducing my weight loss blog - www.weight-loss-notes.com

Mary Anne (hissy) is joining for the ride and will be blogging there as well as the "womain in sweats".

If anyone else is interested in running a weight loss blog on that site let me know. I am looking for people who are committed for the long run and want to share their efforts with the world. You need to be able to write at least 2-3 times a week (preferably every day) and be willing to share your honest efforts with the world. I will be happy to add a few more blog sections for anyone who wants to have a go at this together. Blogging is easy - you don't need any technical background - if you can post on these forums then you can blog

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to join. I just started back to the gym. I'm not sure what my BMI is but I weigh about 163 right now ('overweight').

Congrats on the weight loss decision!!

Good luck Anne, Mary Anne and all others who take the challenge.

A couple of years ago I took the decision to lose 26 pounds (all extra that I could well do without) after finding out that I had inherited very high cholesterol from my family line. Being in my mid-thirties at the time it was a bit of a shock. I did it, I lost the weight - but it was HARD going!!! If I didn't do it, it was medication for the rest of my life and I didn't want that
. So now, I'm a decent weight and cholesterol is under control (ish)

I admire you all for making the decision and taking this courageous step. whenever you want to share your achievements along the way, or need sympathy if you get a little knock back - I'll be there.

Good luck everyone

Thank you for the best wishes everyone! Please do visit the blog and post comments when you feel like it.

Susan - you don't have to be on any particular plan. I'm not on any plan myself - I just want to keep myself focused on the end goal by writing everyday about what I ate as well as put in writing my thoughts about my eating habits etc.

Alio - if you'd like to join, just PM me with a nickname you want for the blog, your email address and a password. I'll send you the info on how to start blogging.

A general note though - the site doesn't have advertising right now, but I might be adding text ads down to the template. Just something you might want to know before signing up.

Well, I am a BMI of 42, so I guess I'd better think about it too. Anne, you may want to check out Fitday.com because I have found that tracking my eating during the day, and planning my eating once I get home, helps me to feel in control and the site keeps a running track of your food, calories, nutrient, salt content and other things.

I would like to add my good wishes as well.
You all will hate me. I feel fat because I weigh 80 pounds. When I got home from the hospital after my 2nd surgery (reversal of ileostomy), I weighed 69.
I have not weighed 80 in 3 years.
I am 5'0" tall and have very tiny bones.

I won't be joining either. I've always been skinny, even after having a baby I'm still considered underweight for my height.

I just wanted to give my support to you guys. My mom recently lost 30 lbs. All she did was count her calories every day and stay under a certain amount and excerise about 30 minutes a day. She actually ate more than she normally did, just more often throughout the day and healthier food. If you don't eat a lot, you're body thinks you're starving and actually stores fat.

Anyway, good luck to you!

Heather

Good luck guys!! I know you can do it!!

I started my diet right after Christmas last year, and I lost 25-30 pounds. I have gained a little back...but in the long run I want to eat better and lose another 20 pounds if I can!!

I'm 5'11" and weigh 165.

I'll probably join after the holidays, I need the food for stress right now!!

I really need some motivation!!
Knowing I need to lose, and feeling guilty for not exercising.
Seems like I am always running somewhere or have to clean around here, it's always something.
I have never been fat like I am until I divorced my 2nd husband and I don't know exactly what triggered it, but I can't seem to lose it now.
A couple of years ago I lost almost 30 pounds and felt great, I was going to the YMCA for exercize classes 2-3 times a week, I was also on Meridia (weight loss drug). I then started getting bad headaches after the classes, and I would wake up at 6-8 am with my heart pounding. Doc put me on Lotrel, (I think thats what it was) and that stopped but I never got back into it and regained the 30 pounds.
I sometimes think this computer is part of the problem!
I sit here 1-2 hours in the evenings, that I could be doing something besides sitting on my assets. I don't see that changing, maybe once I get back to work things will straighten out. Right now my schedule is I stay up till about 1:30am sleep till 12:30pm, get a shower and take Jeff to work. My car is still in the body shop after my accident. I used the money from the insurance for the rental vehicle to Christmas shop, so I have to take him to work at 2pm and go pick him up at 10:30pm - 7 days a week right now.
Then I run errands, shop, eat dinner while I am on the puter, and then clean house before I go get Jeff.
I go to the doc next tuesday, I am gonna see if he can motivate me possibly.

Right here! :)
I´m in!

I was gonna really take charge of my weight, and was gonna loose at least 12 kilos this year (about 26.5 pounds). I lost about 4 (8,8 pounds) in a great efford this summer, when I walked a lot, briskly, and ate very sensibly and only could have sweets once a week. Now most of the weight is back, if not more.

In the new year I´m gonna enroll in an open challenge at my exersize centre (where I NEVER go, by the way, just pay my monthly fee
). There is a grand prize of allmost $8000, and even though I do not expect to win anything, I think this could be good idea to keep up and not give up. This challenge takes 12 weeks, I can starta anytime before February 1st (I think), and then excersize for 12 weeks regularily.
Dont you think that would be something to keep me going?

And by the way, I am now allmost 180 pounds now and was under 130 pounds 5 years ago! And this extra weight is not from my pregnancy, since I was so ill the first 3 months, that I lost about 9 pounds, then gained 20 pounds at the most, so in all only gained 11 pounds at the most during the pregnancy, but after, in my depression and all that, the pounds just found me and refuse to leave!

And, besides, I might want to try for a baby next summer, so I must have lost some of that weithgt by then

Oh, and my BMI now is about 30 or 31.
