Have you ever returned a gift that was given to you with out the giver knowing it?

No Soooz, I think they mean returning it to the store without the giver knowing about it.

Oh right!.

I havent, but my sister did years ago with a gift that my sister in law got her for christmas!.

She had given my sister some mitts, but my sister is a leather glove person so she knew where they were from because the shops label was inside so she took them back to be exchanged for gloves instead.

The assistant came back only to tell my sister that they hadn't stocked the mitts in question for at least 3 years!!!!

My sister was mortified and furious at the same time
Needless to say i cracked up!

No. Never. And, while generalizations are dangerous, I can't think of the circumstance that's remotely likely that would cause me to do so. Not without the person's knowledge.

Nope - but I have re-gifted it a few years later to someone else (who doesn't know the original giver).

Oh, definitely. My mom, my sister, and I used to always do that with my grandma's gifts. Believe me, she is not sentimental at all about the gifts she gives. She has 10 kids, 25 nieces and nephews, 25 grandkids, 10 great grandkids. She usually doesn't even buy the gifts herself or know what she gave a person because she'll ask one of her daughters to buy and ship something!
