Tattletale

This happened several years ago, but I thought you might enjoy it. My husband (ex now) made a rule that his dog, Tattoo, was not allowed in the living room. One night while we were sleeping in bed, my cat, Oliver, jumped on my chest, looked at me straight in the eye, meowed loudly, jumped down, and waited. He obviously wanted me to follow him, so I did. He led me directly to the living room where Tattoo was sitting. I never saw a cat look so proud and smug!

Tailer is a tattletale too. When you get home she'll run up to you and meow until you follow her and then she'll show you something the other cats have done. They're cute when they do this though.

Jamie always does that when his Daddy is using one of "his" blankets - meaning any acrylic one in the house. I keep buying new ones for us, and Jamie keeps appropriating them. Of course, he shares them with me, but they're "off limits" to anybody else. I guess cats are natural-born tattletales - their way of maintaining power.

Sam tattles when Jon's dog has eaten their food. He comes running in meowing then turns and runs back to the kitchen where the bowl is and just wails. Then he will sit and look at me like "Go ahead Mom, yell at her!!".

A few weekends ago, I forgot to pick the food up before we went to bed and I hear Sam in the kitchen. He meowed and I heard the dog run out. She knew he was ratting her out!

Very true, cats for the most part are smarter than dogs, but get the "stupid cat" label because they are not driven to "suck up and mind" to win your approval.
