I had to say goodbye to my best and oldest friend today, my beautiful brown tabby Booker. She was faithful and loyal and loving and smart. Putting her to sleep was the hardest choice I've ever made but I did it because I loved her so much. If there was a cure for her problems, I would have paid any amount of money to keep her alive. I am trying to celebrate her life now and be grateful for what an amazing friend I've had.

RIP Booker

You are so wonderful, it is such a painful thing to do, but the most selfless. Booker knew your love, always will. She will wait for you at the Rainbow Bridge and watch over you until that day.
Thank you for sharing about Booker, I know she was a wonderful, beautiful girl. Tonight I will light a candle in her honor~

RIP sweet angel Booker

I am so sorry for your loss. Booker was a very fortunate cat to have you to share her life, to love her and look out for her, to enjoy 15 years of wonderful friendship together and to have the courage to ease her suffering at the end of her life. To celebrate that friendship and to remember the beauty of what you shared together is the second loving gift that you have given her today. I have no doubt that she loved you very much and is grateful that you loved her enough to let her go when she needed to. Thank you for sharing Booker with us and take care of yourself.

I am so sorry for your loss.

It is such a hard time and although youknow the decision is the right one it never comes easy. As you say, remember and celebrate the many happy years you spent together. She will always be your friend.
Take care you are in my thoughts

I'm so sorry - it's so hard to lose a beloved friend that way, but you were strong and kind in choosing to let her go.

Rest in peace over the Rainbow Bridge, and enjoy sleeping in the forever sunbeams, sweet Booker

I am fortunate to have a sensitive vet who did not support more tests and more treatment. She started getting sick six months ago and we've been trying different things. The reason I finally brought her today was because it seemed she was no longer her usual happy self, and I think she must have been in growing discomfort. Whenever I bring her to the vet, she perks up and purrs. Today was no exception... I told her thank you for being my friend and that I would never stop missing her. She purred right until the end.

Fortunately I have two other cats, one who is 8 and rather aloof, and a feral I caught in August who is now my devoted little guy. But Booker will always be special, she seemed to have an awareness beyond that of a cat.

I am so sorry to hear that you lost Booker. It is so sad to lose your precious friend. But now she is happy and healthy, waiting at the bridge to be reuntied someday. You made the right and unselfish decision to let her go before she really started hurting. Hugs to you, hope this helps a little........

I'm so very sorry you lost your closest friend and lifelong companion. You showed your precious Booker the ultimate love by putting her feelings ahead of your own and allowing her to live in perfect health in Heaven where she knows just how much you love her. You will one day be reunited with your sweet baby. Thank you for sharing this with us so we can celebrate her wonderful life with you.

oh how your heart must ache at this time
but you did the most loving thing anyone of us could do for our babies - you knew when the time was right and you let her leave this life with dignity

I know this doesnt help with the pain in your heart and if I could take some of that away right now - I surely would. Know that we are all here for you should you need

RIP sweet darling Booker

play happily & healthly at the RB until you meet again

Thanks for all your wonderful replies and support. Now, I feel so guilty. I could have waited until after the weekend to have a few more days with her. I know, I know... I just miss her so much. I hope wherever she is, she knows how terribly I miss her.

She does know how much you miss her, and hard hard it was for you to give her the last gift you could, she knows how much love that took
