Wireless Router and kitty

One of my cats simply MUST sleep on my desk next to me while I work. I work from home during the day, and she's like a little ball of velcro with me. Has to be where I am. This is really cute of course, but I'm wondering if my computer equipment could be dangerous for her? I have a wireless router on my desk and she snuggles right up to it because it's warm. Could the radio waves (or whatever they are) coming from the wireless router harm her?

Anyone have any experience or knowledge about this? She is going into the vet next month for a checkup so I will ask the vet too.

i sure hope it doesnt cause any problems with them. i never thought about it before and really dont know anything abuot it. your kitten sounds just like my little girl sidney! sidney loves to sleep on the router too. her brother prefers the keyboard.

Well- think of it this way- anything that is going through your kitty is going through you. All appliances give off slight electromagnetic fields- computer equipt included-but none are especially powerful as far as i know. I would not worry at all.

This is true, however I have a lot more body mass than my she does, as well as a thicker skull, etc. (in many ways, lol). That might not matter at all, I just do not want to her to be in any danger. If it's safe, however, then I'll leave her be.

I should add, I'm worried about the router as opposed to any other appliances only because she sleeps right up against it. But maybe I don't have to worry...?

I still wouldn't worry. Its not really a size thing, so much as EM waves vs organic material, but like i said almost everything from your microwave to your TV to your cellphone gives something off- mostly innocuous. Maybe if it bothers you try and get a heated blanket or bed you can put near the same spot to tempt your kitty away from the router.
