She came from a very good breeder. Before she left, they gave her a kiss and told her they loved her
I forgot to add, she makes the cutest chirpping noises. Sounds like we have a bird in the house

Oh my....that is sooooo much cuteness!!!

Of course, now come the questions... how much does she weigh, how big will she get? How are the rest of the fur family taking to her?

Congratulations on the new addition!

AWWWWWWW!!!!!! What a sweet baby girl!

John, it's a good thing I don't live within driving distance of you or I'd be wanting to visit your cat family all the time!

Well, I have not had the chance to weigh her yet. As for her size, she is an eastern cougar, so she will not get as big as the western cougars my friend has. Since she is female, as with the bobcats, she will be smaller than the males. So, how big? Anywhere from 70-100 pounds with male easterns hitting around 150 pounds. However, I was told her dad was quite large. Once she gets larger, she will not be able to stay indoors, but we have a way to go for that. As for the rest of the fur kids, I find it quite interesting. At the moment, she is still smaller than the domestics. Most of the domestics seem to have accepted her sooner than they did the bobcats. Now, here is the strange part. Amber, who has always had a bad attitude when new cats come around, started playing with her the next morning
Boris, our kind and gentle boy, is not happy at all
In fact, he is not happy with me and is so hurt by this, that he has not had anything to eat since we brought her home Friday evening. I feel terrible, this is my boy
He can not go on like this much longer, without eating. So, I am worried now. Of all the cats, I thought Boris would have been the one to go crazy with excitement. After all, he took to Nakoma very quick.
John, it's a good thing I don't live within driving distance of you or I'd be wanting to visit your cat family all the time!
Well, that would be ok with me. The more human contact Carmella receives the better. However, you must resist the temptation to run and let her chase after you. She is like a dog. You run and she will chase after you. However, this is something you can not do. After all, once she matures, you do not want a 100 pound+ cougar chasing after you like it was ok. She also loves to chew on your arms and legs. This is another behavior that we have to work at all the time, to redirect her chewing on her toys. She is learning already, but it will take a lot more work, much like it did for the bobcats. She did have a great time today. We visited our friend, to help build cat enclosures at her facility. We took Carmella with us and she was exposed to lots of people, more cats and dogs. She was at a facility that has about 25 acres of land. Of course, this is something that we can only allow her to do while she is still small. Once she gets bigger, you do not let anyone, other than my wife and I or anyone else who is qualified, go into her enclosure. But all the exposure to people she gets now, will make her a more trusting and loving cougar when she matures. Now I must go find my boy Boris and have a good talk with him

Carmella is just the sweetest cutest little thing, John. I'm in love.

I'm sorry to hear that Boris is not happy, but you'll explain it all, and he'll be fine. Since he IS your lovey boy, maybe it's that very personal attention that will turn him around. Possibly the difference between Carmella and Nakoma, in terms of Boris's response is that SHE is a baby. She's d****d cute, and he knows it, and he's JEALOUS! So, the reassurance -- lots of it! -- that he's still and will always be Daddy's boy may be all he needs to settle down -- but not before he gives you a hard time for a while about bringing this little whippersnapper into his house.

Well, I did manage to get Boris to eat a little raw turkey today. Not a lot, a piece about the size of a half slice of bread, but at least he did eat something. I was holding him and letting him know he is my boy. I miss him

Carmella is cute, but tell Boris I think he was just as cute if not more as a cub. I always enjoy seeing pictures of your family.

I got one with lightning panting after playing with his toys

Awww, lighting must have been having a good time
Yes, Boris and Amber were both adorable kittens. I will always hold my bobcats at the top of my list. They were our first exotics and I love them to pieces

I think Carmella threatens Boris because she sort of dislodges him as the baby of your family. I know that's how I felt when my brother was born!

I would try and spend equal if not more time oohing and awwing about Boris as you do Carmella and reminding him with lots of cuddles and attention that he will always be your baby.

Hmm lets see, there is Amber (bobcat), Aurora (pixie bob), Boris (bobcat), Carmella (cougar), Cinnamon (pixie bob), Katrina (Siamese mix), Lil Roar (Pixie bob), Nakoma (bobcat), Tommy Boy (pixie bob). With Carmella here, that will take up the rest of the alphabet for quite a while
She is going to keep our hands full.

Yep, I do believe that is it. The look on his face just broke my heart. I let him outside today with Amber and Nakoma. I played with him and cuddled him quite a bit. So, I hope this helps. He still didn't eat this evening, but at least he came down and was walking around checking Carmella out

Well, I would have no problem showing you around however, I do not have a USDA exhibitor's license to allow people to come and tour the facility. I have a state license to own the cats, but no exhibitor license. However, not saying that I could not bring one or two of the kids in the car to meet somewhere. That would be ok, but I could not allow anyone to pet or touch the cats.

John, I wanted to post more yesterday, but I hit a wrong combination of keys and screwed my keyboard up! (Hooray for reboot!)

Carmella - you are adorable and have wonderful parents. Big Bro Boris may be feeling a little jealous because he isn't the baby anymore. Or that your tail is longer.
Big Sis Amber finally has another sister! Have you looked out the window and seen Nakoma?

I think I see another enclosure building project in your future, John!

Oh, that tail
Since living with bobcats and pixie bobs who have very short tails, I am not used to a long tail, other than the one on Katrina, our Siamese mix. But, Carmella's tail is very long and I have to be very careful not to shut it in the carrier when I put her in
Yes, she went outside last night to see Nakoma. She ran around the perimeter, with Nakoma chasing her. As for the enclosure project, I should get the materials now so I have them by next year.
