Oh no, sorry he woke you up so early! But I'm so glad he's feeling better - such a sweet little boy, I would hate for anything to happen to him! And I hope you're staying warm up there - brrr!

Yeah it really was sweet.....and he's hard to resist even in the middle of the night. But I AM really tired today because I didn't get much sleep and today has been a terrible day at work. I've only got a couple more hours and I can go home!

But I decided to go ahead and post them on this thread since they DO live at our house for the time being. These are the Hermit crabs that I got for my nephew for Christmas.......creepy huh? He's 11 and will love these things! I thought they were cool how their shells were painted.....one like a football and the other is a basketball.

Here's the BIG one.....the football. He is really outgoing and loves to be picked up.

But I don't have enough nerve to actually let him crawl on me.

Look how he comes almost ALL the way out of his shell! He's practically about to fall out!! He's only holding on with his tiny back feet.

Here's the smaller one. He's more shy.....but he also seems to like being picked up. He's sitting in his food dish getting some dinner I think.

Here's the big one again getting frisky after his bath. I was laughing at how he had his whole shell lifted off the ground and was actually standing on his legs!

And this is one of the extra shells I bought because I read that they like to "trade spaces" sometimes.

Pretty creepy huh?

As you've read......Thomas was sick for a few days and I had to quaranteen him in my bedroom last night so that I could see if he was able to poop or not. Well, he was really anxious to get out by this morning! Cooper was sitting outside my bedroom door and Thomas started crying and wanting to see his brother. He stood up on the storage box I have in my room and actually tried to open the door by using his paws to turn the doorknob! Unfortunately, his little paws were too little and too soft to be able to turn the knob. This really made him mad! He tried several times and I was able to get a picture of him trying. Look how hard he's trying to grip the knob! He's a smart little booger!

Wow what interesting shells those crabs have! Quite hip to the latest fashions, I imagine!

And clever Thomas, figuring out how to open the door. Just you wait, soon he'll master it and then they'll be no stopping him! Is he still doing better?

Earlier tonight, my daughter Jamie was trying to wrap some presents, so I put some of the kitties "old" toys inside a Christmas stocking to try and occupy them while she was wrapping presents.

Thomas and Cooper were really intrigued with the stocking at first.

"Hmmmm....I wonder what's in here?"

"It doesn't look like food.....and it doesn't smell like food."

"Thomas.....just take the toys out of the stocking! You can't play with them if you leave them in there."

"Yeah....but the stocking is more interesting than what's inside anyway."

"Aunt Shelby.....get off the stocking! It's for kids.....NOT grown-ups!"

"I wonder if there's any TREATS in here?"

"Thomas!! Let me see! I want a turn to play with the stocking too!"

"Aunt Shelby! Give it BACK! I told you....it's NOT for grown-up cats! Let go!"

"I guess I'll help Jamie wrap some presents for awhile. I'll make sure the paper stays nice and straight."

Yeah I had no idea how popular Hermit crabs were! They have them in stores with the neatest looking shells painted in every way imagineable. There are even some for girls that have rhinestones glued to them!
I also saw a really cute one painted like a ladybug.......but I thought that was too "girly" for my nephew......but I wanted to get that one!

Thomas is still doing fine. I fed him separate from the others and he doesn't overeat when he doesn't feel he has to "compete" with the others for food. He's so silly.......he's never gone hungry a day in his life......I don't know why he suddenly began acting like each meal was his last.

Here's Shelby sleeping on top of the refrigerator. I thought she looked funny how she was holding onto the wall to keep her balance while she hangs her head over the edge. The picture was taken through the crack between the back of the fridge and the wall. This is where she usually goes when she wants to get away from everyone and have some peace and quiet.

Oops.....I disturbed the Princess's beauty sleep and she doesn't look too happy about it.

It was a really good day.......the kids (my human kids) got up fairly early to open presents and of course my furry kids were very excited by all the commotion too! (especially the boxes and wrapping paper)

Thomas is checking out the new kitty toys.

All the kitties (except Leo...who's way too sophisticated to play with toys) check out the new stuff!

Now he's looking to see what Nikki got too.

Shelby is just tuckered out after opening all the kitty presents with the boys.

Shelby has claimed HER stack of presents.

Cooper says, "I think these right here are mine."

"And those over there too."

"Gee thanks mom! A BOX! Just what I always wanted!"

Shelby admiring Nikki's new PS2 Dance Mat and new sneakers. (she actually has her foot IN the tennis shoe!)

Look how she's balancing on these boxes with her foot in the shoe! I was just waiting for the whole pile to tumble down.

Shelby and Thomas enjoying all the new boxes to play with.

Jamie holding Leo. He likes to lean his head over and look at the world upside down.

Thomas really likes the boxes.

So does Leo.

Abby is a little worn out from all the excitement too.

Leo and Shelby sneak off for a little snuggle and a cat nap.

Aw those are such great pictures, I forgot to say something earlier! I love them all... Leo and Shelby snuggling, Thomas looking handsome as ever, Abby looking adorable (and quite fluffy) and Cooper claiming his presents! What great furbabies you have - I'm coming over to get some loving from them!

As always the pictures are so full of love and beauty, I come back to this thread over and over. You must be very good at creating a loving and safe atmosphere. I wish my little motley crew were as loving.

Time for some updated pictures! These boys are getting so big! They are 6 months old now and both weigh more than their mom! Abby is beginning to look tiny compared to her boys.

Here's Thomas sleeping on my bedside table after clearing it off by knocking all my stuff onto the floor so he could have a place to lay down.

Here he is laying in my lap while I was on the computer. Usually, he'll jump up onto the back of the chair and purr in my ear and put his paws on my shoulder until I pull him into my lap for a snuggle. I like this picture because I was wearing the t-shirt my boyfriend gave me from when he was deployed last year. Notice the name on the t-shirt.

Cooper on top of the cat condo watching Shelby below. (Susie...remember me telling you how gold Cooper's eyes are getting after you posted that calendar kitty that looked like him? Now you can see that he really does look like that one in the picture)

Now you know why he's looking at her so funny.......she's so silly sometimes!
"Yep...that's my crazy Aunt Shelby all right."

"Hey....why are you sticking your tongue out at ME? I'm not the one acting like a fool!" (I suppose every family has a nutty aunt)

Look.....four kitties all in one picture!

Here's the classic "Cooper expression."

Thomas trying to crowd his brother off the top.

Abby sitting on the bottom level.

Abby and Shelby after a little "spat." Those girls just can't get along.

Cute close-up of Thomas. I've decided that his eyes look like mood rings.......green around the outside and bluer in the center. They're a neat color.

This is a picture of the boys playing one of their favorite games. One of them gets behind my bathroom door and the other is on the outside. Then they peek at each other through the crack and reach their paws through it and try to get each other. (it's not a good picture though.....I was zoomed in too close)

Now it's Thomas's turn to be on the inside.

They are just too much fun! Thomas fur is like a mink coat, so shiny and smooth. That's why he doesn't need silly sweaters and jackets!

How heavy are your boys now Robin? Hobbes is currently 10lbs, and friends are making fun of his weight. Well Hobbes says the sweaters add 1 pound to the scale

Thomas's fur is like a mink coat! I've been trying to figure out what it feels like....and that's it! He's SO soft and velvety feeling and it feels kinda thick and wooly. (as opposed to Leo, whose fur is more coarse) And Cooper's is so fine...that it usually just looks like a nappy mess.

The boys are at about 7 lbs. now. (Abby, their mom, weighs a little over 5 lbs....but she's very petite) Shelby is about 12-13 and Leo is a 20 pounder. The vet told me that kittens should gain about a pound a month....so at 6 mths old, they are just a little bigger than what they should be. I was surprised because I didn't think they would be this big at only 6 months.

So how old is Hobbes now?

By the way.....I never could find any cute sweaters to get them for Christmas. I guess I waited too late and all that was left was the nerdy ones. (which of course, I could never put on MY boys!)
