Question about air purifiers

I'm thinking about buying an air purifier, and I've noticed the prices range from $25 to around $600. I'm assuming that the air purifiers in the $25 to $45 price range are ineffective.

I have looked at this one online and I'm thinking about buying it. I need some opinions from those who already have air purifiers in their homes. Is this a good choice?

Check out Consumer Reports. You will find that the Sharper Image electronic type (Ionic Breeze) that is over advertized is ineffective. Also, when shopping, you will find that replacement filters can be expensive. This is especially true for those available at Sears. We use a Honeywell which is attached to our furnace.

I have a Honeywell air purifier, it looks almost exactly like the one your looking at. I've had it over a year now and it works very well. I bought mine at Sears on sale at 99.00 and it came with three replacement filters which was also a bonus. Your suppossed to change the filter every three months, I sometimes go a little longer. This is actually my second air purifier, my first was a Holmes brand and didn't seem as powerful as the Honeywell, I did have the Holmes though 3 1/2 years so I figured it was time for a new one. I think that's the life expectancy of them.

The reason I bought an air-purifier was for Sash, since he was having respiratory problems for a long time. Well, now his problems are cleared up but I still run the air purifier everynight. I think they are a good thing to have if you have any respiratory condition, they are always recommended by doctors.

I bought one from www.citypet.com about a week or 2 ago.

However it never came, I never got a confirmation receipt and it was never charged on the credit card that was used.

Is that normal?
