The Nativity at Madame Tussaud's waxwork museum in London has a new twist: Celebrities.

Quote:
In the tableau, Australian pop star Kylie Minogue hovers above the crib as an angel while "Posh Spice" Victoria lays her shawled head tenderly on Beckham's shoulder.

Tony Blair, George W. Bush and the Duke of Edinburgh star as The Three Wise Men. The shepherds are played by Hollywood star Samuel L. Jackson, British actor Hugh Grant and camp Irish comedian Graham Norton.

I think it's in incredibly poor taste.

The only thing that could put this over the top is if the baby is the dancing baby made famous by Ally McBeal.

If you believe in the nativity story (and I do), don't you think the 'real' people in the original became celebrities in their time? The Wisemen saw the star and were questioned by Herod. They were ushered right into the government building of their day. And the shepherds had a fantastic story to tell to their relatives and neighbors. 'Angels overhead, singing...' Wonder how many times they retold it?

The actual events may have made the actual participants celebrities.

What do I think about our modern celebrities turning into nativity partcipants? Tacky. A waste of wax.
