Hi everyone!
I recently posted about my cat Bitey.... his symptoms were:

- biting legs excessively creating bald patches
- very skinny but eating well
- licking fur excessively to the point that it is wet

Bitey and I went to the vet the other day and he is allergic to his flea powder! It also was not working properly and that is why Bitey was biting his legs because they were itchy. Our vet gave us a hypo-allergenic liquid flea treatment that is applied on the back of his neck so he doesn't lick it off. I noticed Bitey started to look/act better within a few hours! Hopefully my experiences with this can help someone else!

Take care,
rebeckster

As you learned, flea powders can be very toxic. None of them are as safe and effective as Advantage or Frontline. Revolution is also good, although it rarely causes a skin reaction. These work much better than any flea powder. The kind of flea drops you get in Wal-Mart and other stores, often called Bio-spot are not the same and not as effective and can cause bad reactions, so stick with what the vet recommends for your car and your neighborhood. I discourage the use of ANY flea powders or flea collars. They are horrible.. especially HARTZ.

Advantage and Frontline are definately the way to go!
