Actually, I think it's because you just have to wait longer for the pics to finish downloading. At first I didn't see any photos either. They just took a long time to download.

I saw teams practising in the ocean in front of where we stayed in Hawaii - they used to come by every evening - it was fantastic to watch.

Yes, the currents around Alcatraz are very strong. We call that race a steersman's race because they have the hardest job!! Although paddling like crazy and not feeling like you're going anywere is pretty hard too!
