I'm soon to be starting a new job in Manhattan. I live far away from the city, so I need to move closer. Does anyone out there have any connections with any apartments in New Jersey that allows cats? I have two of them.

Considering my job is near Penn Station, I'm looking for a town that a train runs through, preferably in the Summit area. My ideal location would be in a two- or three-family house, but an apartment complex would be acceptable.

I can afford up to about $1,000 per month and I don't smoke.

Try going onto rent.com
That will let you know what apartments are pet friendly by putting in the required info for a search.

www.rentwithpets.org has good info about finding housing with pets, including how to make up a 'pet resume'. Keep in mind some property owners have 'no pets' as a blanket policy, but if you come across as a responsible pet owner you might still have a chance at some of those.
