Also, with the canned food I buy 3 different flavors so she isn't eating the exact same thing everyday. This is okay right? Lemme know guys
I know that both these brands are well known, and have had a good rep, but I would not feed either brand.
Here is why - the two flavors of Pro Plan Canned kitten that I took a look at tonight - one contains by-products and artificial flavors, the second contained by products, artificial flavors, soy flour and soy protein concentrate. I do not consider those to be premium food ingredients, nor the best quality food for a kitten or cat.
The Hills Science Diet Feline Growth dry has the following as it's first ingredients: "Chicken by-product meal, corn meal, animal fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols and citric acid), corn gluten meal,
brewers rice, chicken liver flavor, dried egg product, L-lysine, soybean mill run", this can not compare to a dry food such as Felidae, or California Natural Chicken and Rice, PetGuard or Nutro Natural Choice Complete Care.
Also worthy of consideration is Innova, and Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers Soul.
Fwiw, the belief that a canned food diet causes dental problems and is not recommended is changing, here is a link to a good article by a veterinarian on this:click here
