The first fecal sample came back negative. The second one didn't. Tousse has giardia. Some of you may remember Beasley had tested positive, was treated and then tested negative. She wasn't allowed to be around Tousse until her second test after treatment came back negative. Yet somehow she passed it to him anyway. It's not life threatening. Sighs. I go to pick up the medication for them both today or tomorrow. Sighs. On top of that my vet is retiring. Another vet will be taking over the practice but I don't know if I will continue to go there.

I was just about to see if I could find out how your kits were doing... I'm sorrry about Tousse... it's good that it's not life threatening. Please keep us updated on how he's doing... it'll be okay.

I'm also sorry your vet is retiring, quite a lot to find out in one day!

Thanks Ari. It is a lot to take in in one day, but the good thing is it isnt life threatening. When my vet called me from his house I about passed out. I started breathing again when he said, "giardia". I am slightly familiar with it and so there wasn't really a reason to panick.

Question... from what I read, it says that Giardia is from the water? Is that what your vet said? Is it possible that both Beasley and Tousse got it from the water they've been drinking?

Please don't think I'm attacking you or anything, it just might be good to look into.

And don't worry about Tousse, he'll be fine! He can take it - he's a tough little boy!

No, giardia is transmitted when cats share litterboxes, not from water.

It should be treatable.

It says humans can get it from water, so maybe that is what you were reading.

So sorry Tousse isn't well
, but glad to hear it's not life-threatening. I'm sure he'll be doing better in no time.
That's too bad about your vet, too - hopefully you'llf find a new one who's just as good.

Glad to hear Tousse illness is not life-threatening. Still a hassle to deal with i know. Hope you are able to find a vet just as good as the old one!

Sorry to hear your little guy isn't feeling well. It can be very stressful to have a sick kitty, even when it's not life threatening. I know where you're coming from. Sammy had giardia when he was 8 or 9 weeks old (his mommy is allowed to go outside). But he learned to take the daily pill early on and it cleared up. Now Sammy is doing fine and has grown like a weed. I'm sure Tousse will bounce back just as well
. Good luck and I hope he feels better soon.
