Help, anyone know anything about squirrels?

There's a squirrel who lives in the vent next to my kitchen window... she moved in last spring, and because she had a nest full of babies, my landlord didn't want to call the exterminator (I didn't want them to either) so they just put a board over the side of the vent that's in the kitchen so that the squirrel can't get in, and 'Bitey' has been living there ever since. I often see her walking past my windows with leaves or food (she really entertains the cats!) and sometimes I can hear her scratching around in the vent, working on her nest I guess, but I've never heard her make any noise until today - for the past hour or so, she has been making very loud squeaking type noises, and loud groaning noises. I know that she's a wild animal and can take care of herself, but still, I am worried... does anyone know anything about squirrels, is it normal for them to make noises like this (she never has before!), or is something wrong?

Sounds as though she may have a gentleman caller.

I don't know exactly WHEN squirrels breed or what their gestation period is, though.

Not sure, except it seems to be more than once a year! We have quite a few who live in the tall fir's we have in our front and back yard.

We put out corn cobs for them, squirrel cake's(a mix of corn, sunflower seeds and other goodies) and peanuts

hmmm, i thought by now squirrels were hibernating? Maybe she is stuck and cant get out??

we still have tons of squirrels out and about. One at work naps on top of my tire. I've been squirrel hunting before and they do make crazy noises sometimes, i really wouldn't worry about it.
