My male cat, 8-10 mos. bites my arm or hand and holds it as he is kneading and backing up at the same time. He isn't hurting me,but if anyone knows why he does this ,let me know, please.

What you are describing sounds exactly like the preamble to mating. The male will grasp the female by the scruff with his teeth and hold her - then with his back feet, try to "kick-start" her (looks just like he is trying to start a motorcycle) so she will assume the appropriate position. The "backing up" you mentioned puts him in the appropriate position.

My guess is that this young male isn't neutered ... and if I am correct, you should do so immediately. Does he also spray yet? If he doesn't spray now but isn't neutered, it is only a matter of time before he will spray.

If he was recently neutered, the hormones which tell him to act this way are still running through his system. It can take a few weeks for them to go away after being neutered.

If he has been neutered longer than a couple of weeks, then my guess is this is dominance behavior.
