If that vet said that he was done with her, then good... I'm glad... that means that Sierra and you don't have to deal with him anymore. And he says no one else will want her? That is not true... I'm sure there are pets that act worse than Sierra (not that Sierra acts badly, she was scared and provoked)... I can't believe this Dr. actually works with animals on a regular basis.

I'm with Pat - I'm so mad for you! I'm glad you're done with this vet and I know you'll find one who is so much better to both of you...
You're right, Ari, that really wasn't a nice thing for her to say, and we will be best to not return to her. We must find a more appropriate Vet for my baby girl! Thank you so much for being here!

I can't believe the vet treated you and your kit so terribly. I don't blame you for not wanting to go back. I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience.
I don't know that she treated us so badly, she was extremely unprofessional, though, and mean in her words, but she was probably trying to defend her self in some way. Thank you so much for your support and for caring about us!

So sorry Sierra had to go through this. Definately not good for the blood pressure, yours or hers. I am surprised that a holistic vet would be like this. My vet is a feline specialist and they never treat Sally badly, and she is a brat at the vet. They use a towel and the tech wears leather gloves and the vet talks to her and pets her. Do you think Sierra will even need another rabies vac? Or is it required by law there? Because my vet only gives it to Sally, who can't be depended on to stay inside. Asa and Elfie don't get one and Buddy got one but that was when we thought he would be going back out to continue in his feral life, before he found out about couches, beds, electric blankets and endless food. No more rabies vac for him and only the other shots every three years. Hope Sierra is feeling better now. Becky

SHEESH. ok, this is how I am feeling
and this is what I have to say. First, S & S - you are home safe and sound and that's so good to hear. I checked a number of times throughout the day. By 4 pm my time I didn't have the best feeling...... and Becky's comment is so right. I mean, what were they thinking??????? Do they not know Sierra??? What part of BP don't they understand????
Isn't the point of a holistic approach ---to understand more than just a needle and serum and poking it in??? Goddarn it!! The point is to take all forms of healing and the environment into consideration. Exactly what Becky says. Definitely not good for her BP or yours. It's all about the BP!!!! If it were me, mind you, I would print out this part of the thread, blow it up on the copier really big, like 30 pt font, and let them have a piece of OUR minds here.

Ok, now I feel better. YO! I do hope Sierra is resting peacefully and getting her BP back to some degree of normal as are you.
I hope you can snuggle and take comfort from each other, and Stephanie, it's time for you and Sierra to think about making an Executive Decision.

I'm thinking about you....

I am very surprised, too, Becky. Yes, Rabies vaccines are required by law in NC. We actually discussed how some states that are still requiring it have a way around it if your Vet will write a form explaining your kitty has a health condition that puts her health in jeapardy if she were to receive the vaccine, which would really be best for Sierra. NC, though, has not made this legal yet.
Sierra will be receiving her other vaccines every 3 years, if I choose to give them at all. I do definately prefer a Vet who specializes in cats.
Thank you for your suggestions.

Yes, finally home safe and secure! Thank you for checking in on us all day, and as always, your suspicions were correct. Talk about BP going through the roof! This entire thing was terrible for her. This may be an intelligent, well trained Dr., but she really doesn't accurately represent the Holistic profession. You always put words to my feelings so well, thank you for expressing the anger on which I am attempting to not focus as Sierra's comfort and the quest for her best care is where I am trying to direct my attention.
Thank you so much for always being here for us with your love and understanding.

hunny hunny hunny-- Lord what a day you have had! I sent you a snowflake. People were making them in the Lounge today. I know it's pretty stupid at the moment, but sometimes when I'm upset, I like to block out everything and do a quiet craft in order to organize my thoughts. I even sent you the program for your computer, courtesy TTMom.

Stephanie my stomach is churning over just thinking if this woman had spoke to me in that manner, not to mention the way she was with Sierra!!

I think it's time to change holistic vets sweetie and find someone with a decent bedside manner!, and when you do send her a letter telling her why you've disposed of her services!!.

I agree with Elizabeth as well in printing this thread off and sending it to her because if she treat me like that, she'd me the one in the cage!

You're right, Susan. I know that you are, and Sierra will nolonger be seeing the Vet. Thank you so much for feeling upset right along with us and for your thoughts. I'm not sure it would really accomplish anything to send her a letter but to make the situation worse. I just feel so upset right now and wish I had done everything differently.

My sweet baby girl has been asleep for hours. I held her and we've cuddled, but she's just slept. She hasn't eaten a thing. After she sleeps this off, I know she will feel better.
This has been a nightmare to forget.

Stephanie don't you feel bad about this because this wasn't your doing.

Theres only one person that has the finger pointing at her and thats certainly not you!.

Once Sierras has a good sleep she'll be fine again, especially when your going to be the first person she sees

Thank you both for saying I shouldn't blame myself, but really, I am the one she trusts to take care of her, and I know she wondered why I was allowing it to happen. I should have put a stop to it. I should have just left. I'm not saying that so you'll say something nice or try to justifiy it for me. I just wish I had done this differently.
Thank you, Danielle, we have been cuddling and Sierra has been sleeping for hours not wanting to wake up at all. Took a couple of adorable pictures of her all zonked out in the sweetest position with her little hands in the air!
I haven't been able to sleep yet, though. Thank you so much for caring and for listening.
Sorry to go on and on...

never ever apologise for going on and on - what are friends for?

I do understand what your saying about how you wish you had of done things differently - however we cant allow ourselves to think of the 'what ifs'
I know of course easier said than done. but whats done is done and you will move on from here (after posting parts of this thread to that woman!!!
)
why oh why did that original vet you were seeing have to move overseas?

cant wait to see new photos of my sweet niece
try and get some sleep my friend - both you & Sierra need it
