Well here I go, I have a 9 week old kitty. She is great and loving but me bed has become her night time pee spot. I have tried the nature's miracle and the citrus stuff. She has an appointment on Friday for the vet. What else can I do. Is she afraid of the dark? She has several cubbies that have warm blankets set up. She has her own little house with a scratching post. Her box is cleaned everyday. Yet she still pees on my sheets and blanket. It feels like a problem that I just cant fix.
The only thing I can think of is she might need a pal. Do you think this is a good idea?

Any help would be great.

I had a night-time pee-er that I would put in the litter box right at bedtime each night and if he didn't go, I would try again in 10 minutes and repeat until he went. If he didn't go, I wouldn't let him in bed with me but put him in a small room with the litter box at night. He figured it out pretty quickly.

And a 9 week old kitten may not have full bladder control, or realizes too late that she has to go and can't make it to the box. Where is the litter box in relation to your bed? Perhaps move it into the bedroom with you and make sure she knows it is there.

The litter box is in the bathroom that is connected to my bedroom. Do you think that is to far away?

I agree with momofmany. Try to put her in the box before you go to bed. That's how I had to teach my Simon where to go. He was a stray so had only gone outside before I got him. They're fast learners and if she's using the box the rest of the day, it's probably just that she's little. She's very young so she probably just needs to get a bit older. Could you keep her in the bathroom at night?

At 9 weeks old it probably is too far away. I've seen kittens romping and playing, stop suddenly and look around, start walking towards the litter box across the room and not make it that far. Always keep a litter box very close by for a kitten that young.

I have no problem keeping her in the bathroom overnight. I just thought she would get totally lonely all night in the bathroom.

There is a lot of contradictory information out there concerning clumping litter and young kittens. Clumping litter forms clumps when wet and kittens tend to ingest litter. There are stories of kittens dying from using clumping litter. Rather than risking anything, I typically use clay litter with young kittens and switch them over to clumping when they are older. I'm sure others will have opinions on this.

9 weeks old is very young and she probably does not have litter pan manners at the moment. I hope you are not getting angry with her when she has her accidents, and the vet is a good call, but again, she is young and may not understand what is expected of her. If you don't get the enzymes in the urine knocked down, she will pee time and again in that spot.

www.kalever.com is a good product. You might want to get her a snugglekittie- and also burn a nightlight for her to give her comfort or see if you can also get one of her littermates?

Yeh i figured the clumping litter was not very good for her. Thats what I started with be she ended up playing with the balled up litter. There is a type of litter that has crystals. It comes in a jar type container but looks nothing like sand or clay. Whats the story with that type of litter?
