Questions about UTI's?

Hi I need some help. My cat who is a 1 1/2 year old Female Ragdoll threw up 3 different times within a week and a half. On Sunday she was in her litterbox every few minutes and I took her to the Emergency Clinic where she was diagnosted with a UTI. Last night at 3:00 am she threw up again, which was mainly mucus. Is throwing up a part of a UTI? I'm really concerned about her.
She is going to the vet tomorrow at 10:15 but I could use some reassurance. Thanks so much.

Tracy-
Throwing up is not generally part of a UTI. The antibiotics used to treat UTIs though can sometimes make a cat throw up. As long as your kitty is keeping water down and keeping most of her food down she should be OK until your appointment. Make sure she doesn't lose her appetite and stop eating though. At your appointment tomorrow I would discuss the issue with your vet.

A UTI can be caused from several things. One can be dehydration....is she drinking enough water? When you are dehydrated, sometimes it can upset your stomach. I know I am a human, but I was in the hospital throwing up because I was dehydrated. Also severe dehydration can cause UTI's, or a diet of just dry foods. If you feed her dry food, try feeding her wet food once a day, but her throwing up could be because she's not getting enough water even though you see her in her litter box all the time.

I'm not an expert...I just have some personal experience.

I went home on my lunch break to check on her. She drank for me when I was there from the faucet but I can't tell from her water dish. I also flipped her litterbox around because she pees in front and this way I can tell if she is going pee. She isn't eating much, she'll eat her treats but her food dish isn't going down that much. Her medication did say that she could lose her appetite as a side effect. She is going to the vet tomorrow so hopefully he'll have some more answers for me. I was concerned with the throwing up and didn't want to wait until her UTI re-check. As for wet food, well it could be a challenge but I can try, she hates soft things...only crunchy will she take so I'll give it a try. Thanks so much.
