Hello Everyone

I have had a strange situation happen this week, and wanted to find out if anyone else out there has run into this:
Well, this week I got an email from a guy in africa who wanted to by a kitten-that part was cool- but the weird thing is he was going to have his supplier in the states send me a check of a huge amount of money and he wanted me to cash it and send the rest to his shipper which in turn would pick up the baby from my house. All this was ok until I toled him that the baby was not to leave my home till the check cleared my bank,so I toled him about 2 weeks(just to be safe) He kept insiting on for me to cash this check as soon as I get it and send the rest. He did not ask much about the kitten, his main concern always seemed to be this cashiers check.I also would ask him questions and he would not reply on them,I also toled him that I have a contract he needs to sighn to give me his fax number and he did not reply on that either he said his shipper could take care of all the paper work, No, sorry it does not work this way so,I finally toled him NO sale,if he cant wait 2 weeks, and being his story keeps changing, and caught him in some lies.
I just wanted to warn other breeders about this because I think its a fraud thing. And to know if anyone has heard of this? Sorry for such a long post

I am not a breeder, but I have a lot of email clients who are breeders and I have heard of this happening before. Good for you being on your toes-

Hi Rachel

Ohh This guy have also been around Denmark with his mail to almost every danish cattery. And he were ready to send huge amounts for kittens so the rest of the money could be sent back to him in a new cheque, but lucky some few breeders have been warned against him from other breeders from other countries and he didn´t have any succes here.

He is no seriously kitten buyer, only a person who wants to "exchange" money

I get aleast 1-2 emails just like that each day. I tell them to leave me alone or just delete them. they are scams and a pain but they all read about the same. real easyt o tell whats honest and whats not. They never show a real interest in the kitten just want to pay you right away. Ticks me off and drives me nuts but not much you can do!

It's a scam. They will send you a check for a big amount of money. And ask for the rest of money back. The check will bounce.
So, you will lose money on it.
They don't really want a cat, just to swindle you out of money.

what if you cashed the check yourself? wouldn't that screw up their bank accounts? obviously don't send the money back to them in check form. i guess that would be bad on your part too cuz they want your cat or whatever and obviously you aren't sending them the cat. i was just thinking about it. I have gotten about 15 of these in the past month. Ever since I posted a cat for adoption on petfinder.com. Some specifically ask for the cat and others say they just need you to do this for them with a huge long story.

I actually got one the other day that said the guy was very religious and asked god for help and this is what he told him to do. And something about his poor family and children and a lot of mention of church and god and bible verses and stuff. So I couldn't resist replying to this one and I said something like "I believe god does not like liars and being a holy man, you should know this", i haven't heard back from him yet! One other guy actually did reply and said you should be ashamed of yourself for talking so mean to someone. Ha! funny.

The check is bogus. It will not mess up their bank acount because they don't have money in the account. The check will bounce.
