So far out in left field I got lost
Ken and I are going to give the Siberian Husky a new home as of tomorrow. For those who don't know what I am refering to here is the link.
http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37668

I have check with the Humane Society and have the all clear to take her home on the legal side. The best part is the vet bill for the surgery and all of her shots have been paid by a local Greyhound rescue group
I'm all excited about this

I just hope all goes well when I pick her up tomorrow and then there is the introductions to Ceasar, Nakita and Dakota. I'm a little worried about that
as I don't want any of them to injury themselves or each other. Any suggestions on how to introduce them would be most helpful. I will be posting pictures of her tomorrow night when I get her home.
Okay sorry I am rambling now

Blondie , the best thing to do is to meet the dogs on nutural grounds and see how they do . I am sorry I did not follow up on the other thread . I would have said ex change the smell ,like toys , towels ect with the dogs to get to know each other . But now it is kind of late for that .I would let the dogs meet some place they don't own as their place like back yard or so , maybe on the street some place . Or go walking with all of them and see how they will do . I sure wish you luck with the intro of all 3 dogs

Btw , did you know they have feliway for dogs now
?

Cathi, that's great. There might be some rough times until they all get used to eachother, but it'll all turn out fine. What a wonderful think you are doing. That doggie is one lucky doggie to have found you and Ken!

I just hope you don't have a repeat performance of what you had to endure with your daughter's rottie- Siberian Husky's are a lot of work. They need daily exercise, lots of running, if you are putting this dog on a chain, be sure you take him for long walks and runs, or you will soon have a bored, aggressive dog on your hands. If he is outside, be sure he has plenty of shelter, keep him groomed (get a rake brush from a good grooming supply) because his undercoat is going to be thick-

Oh yeah I already have everything I need for her. She will never be put on a chain as long as I have her except to go for her walk. I have a huge fenced in back yard. I have 8-10 trees in my backyard alone. It was once a pecan orchid. So most of the back yard is all shade. Right now I come home at lunch and give Nakita and Dakota ice water every day to help with the heat, they both have the double coats too even though Dakota's isn't as thick or as long as Nakita's. I go over their coats twice a week with the rake and undercoat brush to get all of the bunny fuzz(that's what I call it) off them. I think all will go well with the intros, but I will be ready for anything with them all

After doing research on coat colors for Siberians I now know that this new husky is the color markings know as a "piebald" Siberian Husky. Meaning she is all white with an irregular splash of color on her. In her case she has a splash of black on her back
Nakita is known as a Saddleback husky and Dakota is known as the black and white.

Right now I have two names I am thinking about for her.
#1 Tala-meaning "Wolf" in Native American
#2 Fayina-Meaning "Free One" in Russian.
As of right now I am leaning towards the name Tala

So give me your opinion for this name. I will be posting her picture tomorrow, just remember that she is injured and has her neck shaved where the vet cut that awful choke chain out of her neck so don't be grossed out by that when I show her.

Cathi i'm so pleased for you, you've obviously thought good and hard otherwise you wouldn't be taking on another if it couldn't be done.

Can't wait for the pics
. I like Tala

I have an alaskan malamute at home, I almost named her Tala, I like that name. As for introducing all of them, definatly supervised and if you can on nuetral ground. I kept my Astor(my cat) and Patience (the malamute) apart for the first week except when I was there to supervise and they are the best of friends now! Good luck!

There's no place like home
Cathi - that is so cool! We had 5 medium to large dogs at one point. 3 males and 2 females. Males are more territorial than females and we did have some squabbles as they worked thru the hierarchy issues. Is your min-pin a female? I found that what helped our guys the most was having a strong alpha female who did the rank selection for the boys. Our large greyhound won, followed by our lab/border collie mix followed by the smaller greyhound.

The biggest issues that I see for you will be hierarchy related. Sometimes you, as the alpha parents, have to intervene and set the order for them. With dogs as large as yours, just be careful. Dakota should be the easiest as he is still puppy and isn't old enough to really challenge.

Cathi--I am so happy you have made your decision! I love the name, Fayina! Can't wait to see pics of her and hope that all introductions go well! I am excited for you! YAY!

P.S. I don't know if you know by now, but Mittens is all better and I am giving him so much more attention...hehe...

Okay here are the pictures of Tala. Just remember that one of these shows in detail the injury done by an idiot
Introductions went really, really well. All Tails were flagging and no growling went on
She is very underweight and needs a good brushing but I think she is a beauty
and now without further aduio.....Tala

This one makes me cringe when I see it

Yes she will be very loved
Tala is still a pup herself, the vet has guesstimated her age to be about 8 months old. She only weighs 26lbs right now and should be more like 50 lbs. You can't really tell because of her coat but she is all skin and bones.

I did notice a little food aggression when feeding her tonight but that was taken care of as I was standing there to intervene. I know the neighbors all think I'm nuts but I know that I can give her and all the rest the quality of care that is needed to be healthy and happy too. This will be the absoulte last dog that I can take in though.

Cats well that is another thing. Ken will more than likely say no on another cat as I have been begging for a long time for another one. Who knows

Aww! She's beautiful. I'm so happy you and Ken brung her home!

Her neck looks so sore( If I ever got my hands on the people that did that
) but I know she's in good hands now, and I'm sure she'll be 100 % better in no time!

Thanks for sharing her pics and for saving her life!!
