Hi
Not sure if anyone can help, but my resident cat (aged 8) and my new kitten (8 weeks) have been playing and he even gave kitten a wash today, which was cute. But sometimes when playing or when passing he will clench his moth around the back of her neck and just hold it. She meows but she always seems to go back to him for a kiss later so I'm not sure if it's hurting her or if it's just play. She can be a bit rough with him herself sometimes. Does anyone kno what this biting of the back of neck means?

It sounds like he is asserting his dominance and letting the kitten know he is the alpha cat, which is a completely normal behaviour. As long as he isn't hurting her, it's fine.
