Yes, I know that we aren't even technically engaged and the wedding won't be for 3 more years, but... hey. There was a Modern Bride magazine and work and it got me thinking. I always wanted a fall wedding. Outside, lots of leaves, and wildflowers. Roast turkey and pumpking pie dinner. You know the drill. Well I was looking online, and I just thought to myself. What about a Halloween wedding theme!? I found ADORABLE marzipan jack o lanterns and such for the cake!

I'm so excited I want to start planning RIGHT NOW!

That is so cool! When my former boss got married, they had a Halloween wedding, and all the guests and wedding party were in costume. She wore a vintage 1920s flapper style wedding dress, and he wore a zoot suit. The best man was in a gorilla suit, and the bridesmaids wore formal gowns from the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, all from vintage clothing stores or consignment stores. They were beautiful, and did not cost a fortune the way new dresses can. Even the priest was in costume, some kind of military chaplin. I did not know them then, but I saw the wedding albums. It was the coolest wedding I have ever seen. I would love to hear all the details as you plan your big day, and I suspect a lot of the other TCS members would, too. Even though technically you aren't engaged yet...................CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Grissom if you are going to plan your wedding around the fall, you could be planning the flowers and what flowers will be out then and the colours that you will pick for bridesmaid to go with your theme.

I would love for my wedding dress to be medeival, like with a bodice and bell sleeves. And for Rob to wear an Edwardian tux with the long coat tails. I think that would be so cool!

Shoot. I didn't know you were supposed to have a theme. Seeing as I will probably not get married again, I missed the boat on that one. But I do LOVE the fall, turkey, pumpkin pie idea.

my best friend got married a few years ago and she had a 1800's style wedding. She wore this amazing full burgandy velvet dress with a huge headpiece and her husband wore a tux with a top hat and cane.
The bridesmaid (I was one of them) wore full dark green velvet dresses with feathers in our hair

It was gorgeous (however the day was sooo hot I think we were melting!!
)

She was marrying into a very traditional Italian family and they were shocked that they could consider having a 'themed' wedding - especially one like that - they expected her to have a traditional wedding.
They are so not like that - and everyone at the wedding was amazed how perfect it actually was
