Hello,
I thought I would start out by telling everyone a little bit about my two kittens. (Please forgive me if I'm long winded) They're eleven weeks old and have led miraculous lives. They were found by my sister-in-law's husband, Brad, at an auto junkyard inside a car that was being towed to the crusher. Unfortunately, their mom jumped out of the car and was trampled beneath the tires. This led the people there to stop the car and look inside. Nestled within the car, were two kittens no more than 48 hours old! The general concensus was to just dump these kittens in the dumpster
but Brad decided to take them home (even though he's terribly allergic to animals). To make a long story short his wife, Jess, bottle raised the kittens. Luckily they survived and grew up healthy and, of course, adorable.
For awhile it looked as though they were going to have to be split up as no one wanted both. None of us wanted that because all these two had in the world was each other. However, after being around them for several weeks my husband and I fell in love with them and decided to take them. Last weekend we even moved to a new apartment; as our old one didn't allow pets. Moving was a giant hassle, but these kittens are worth it!
J.D. is the boy kitten. He's a blue tiger-striped tabby with grey eyes. He's extremely affectionate, a purring machine, playful, and a bit of a coward. One of his favorite things is to sleep cuddled in someone's arms. (preferably mine
) His sister Mistaya, or Misty for short, is a black smoke with topaz eyes. She's independent, affectionate (although not as much as her brother), VERY playful, and pretty much fearless. Her favorite thing is to chase toys, or her big brother, around the apartment. To be fair J.D. does his share of starting the wrestling matches, Misty just usually finishes them. They have a special bond; and often sleep, eat, and drink together. One of the most adorable things I've ever seen is Misty grooming J.D. while he's asleep. Of course this sleeping almost never occurs when my husband and I are ready for bed. No, then it's crash into the furniture, climb on the bed and walk all over which human body part is closest...
Last night I thought I was going to die laughing when J.D. casually walked across my husband's face.
Of course ,he didn't find it quite as funny. lol.
This is all new to me as I've never had cats, or indoor pets at all for that matter. To be honest, I've always been more of a dog person, but that might just be changing.
I've also discovered that I am, apparantly, the spoiling type.
Everytime I go to the store I find myself itching to buy them something.
I do have a question for everyone. For the last several days J.D. has been sneezing. However, he seems ok other than that. His appetite is good, he has lots of energy, and his nose isn't running. He and Misty are going to the vet next Friday for another round of vaccinations. Is this something that can wait until then or should I be calling the vet now?
Anyway thanks for listening. I hope I wasn't TOO long winded.
