Hi! I am Summer and I am currently the wait staff for eight cats; Camey, Xena, Kenleigh, Tigger, Nestle, Oreo, Comet and Skittles. I look forward to getting to know everyone here and your kitties!

I do have a question, my cats are all strictly indoors, with supervised time on the screened in porch, should they be on heart worm prevention? Do you have your cats on it? My dogs are on it, but they go outside alot. Thanks so much!!

Summer

You should ask your vet about this. I understand that the risk of heartworm for cats varies greatly by region, and there are different sources of exposure.

My cats are mostly indoors, but I do take them out occasionally. My vet recommends full shots and flea/parasite treatment, because even if they are supposed to stay indoors, if they get out by mistake, they could get infected.

I would personally keep them on the heart worm treatment - better to be safe. But as Sammie said - have a chat to your vet
