As we all know, Molly is slowly easing her way into the social forum. first it startedwith her whining at the hallway, and then her letting me pet her under the bed.. and next she let me pet her for short times in the hall. Now, she's letting me rub her up all night long and love her up, in the living room, in front of everyone, and even let Jason pet her! Also, she sat up against my leg for about 15 minutes. This is a MAJOR break through. I'm so excited!!!
And.. now she's rubber her face all over our shoes... is that a marking habit?

She is claiming you- she is scent marking you to warn other cats she now considers you exclusively hers- Congrats! Slow and steady wins this race!

LOL, I had to do an on-site tech call a few days ago and it was raining here. My dress shirt got all wet, and apparently Miikka must have been sleeping on it because for the rest of the day I smelled like wet cat!

I thought I would mention because your post reminded me of that.

She gives my hand running headbonks.. If a hand is dangling, she headbonks it. She marked the inside of Jasons boot too..
I'm surprised we still have a cat., but at the same time she marked all of my flipflops. o_O
There is a problem, it seems:/ She is a demanding mistress, and if you do not pet her right (which, wrong is different every day)she meows, or sometimes, if it's relly really "wrong" she bites. What this is varies from day to day.Last night she got me good. I want to know how we can discipline her without making her stay in hiding.
Now her previous owner taught her that when you snap your fingers, it means she's being bad. So I snapped at her, and she instantly hid under the bed. She let me pet her afterwards, but it's like I don't want her to get back under there and not come out. she was out from 9-11 last night, when I snapped at her, and after 11, she didn't come out.
it was bed time anyway, but I want to know of a slightly less effective way of stopping her from biting.

I agree with Helen. Walking away is he best medicine. No attention whatsoever does the trick with my boys (Moth would never think of misbehaving...she's an angel!
). I usually say, "NO" or if they won't let go, or have claws in me, I blow lightly in their face to make them let go and then walk away from them.

They usually come slinking back later to apologize. This is what you want Molly to get to. She ought to know that YOU are Alpha Cat and not her. I know it's hard cuz you want to spoil them, but it's neccessary for discipline.

I'm still so happy for you, though! YAY!

I am so glad that you have made progress like you have with her!! I agree with everyone in letting her know who the alpha cat is. Also, watch for signs that she is starting to not like being petted. I know that my oldest, Red, will put one ear back when he is "kind of" mad and if he puts both back, he is going to bite.

Congrats on the progress!!!

I've figgured out that she gets mad when she thinks she's going to be picked up, or scruffed.. she really hates it and will mrewl a little. but once that's been done she doens't quite trust you to pet her for the next little bit.
